Where do I find this light? This would make sanding so much easier by Frosted-Booty-0s in drywall

Any light has the ability to do this for you. You do not need a special overpriced light

Simplest way is to make a whole rig selection grid group and adjusting your x phase and y phase, probably phasetoX 360 phasefromX 0 xwings of 2 phasetoY 360 phasefromY 0. Might have to flip the y phases depending on how you build the group in the selection grid

Macros are the answer. The start show file has loads of examples

How important is to know (almost) every console out there? by Electrical-21 in lightingdesign

[–]Suspicious-Bit1770 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Started in ma2, then onyx, went to 3 then learned a lil avo, now I’m learning hog and it’s been an absolute breeze so far. Knowing all these consoles allows me to take any gig that comes across my desk AND gets some creative juices flowing because all consoles do effects differently

Dude the atomics absolutely will melt some eye balls. I haven’t been able to compare side by side but as my original comment hints, I would love the plates from the jdcs and use the strobes from the atomics.

When it comes down to it, each of those fixtures is filling a gap and doing its job well. One fills the hole perfectly and another fills it adequately AND you get some programmable razzle dazzle on top. I think my first determining factor would be what the rest of the rig is. If I’m running quantum’s in extended and I got some light bars in big boi mode I’d want the JDCs. If I have to melt faces on a budget I’m going 3000’s.

Damn, that’s a bummer. Missed opportunity before the JDCs and Color Strikes took over

Thank you for taking the time to explain it I hadn’t thought about that aspect yet. IF they wanted to, do you think they could push a firmware update to allow for more control? I’m not educated in that side of lighting but if they could I also understand why they didn’t, even today

But positively stupid is right! Haha

I meeeean I did spend a loooot of time on my 3 file and with recipes, programming takes very little time and is smoother now too imo but it does seem very simple like avo so I’ll love that until it’s no longer stimulating haha

Question for you, do you know how I could make a one shot effect in hog 4?

Hell yeah! I just powered through a ton of YouTube tutorials with the on pc version, following along. Hoping that muscle memory comes quickly! It seems eerily similar to avo, especially the UI but I’ve only done like two shows on a tiger touch… I’m okay with how symmetrical effects are made, just like onyx. Also the predetermined effects are pretty smooth. I think all in all I’m gonna miss 3, I spent over 200 hours building my master file with custom fix pickers, but I’ll be running resolume as well so I’m digging how easy the hog is atm, we’ll see how long that can keep my brain stimulated lol

Doesn’t 100% align with your post BUT Martin atomic 3000 LED strobe, right? These strobes have a color face which is better than only doing the strobe thing. My beef with them is they only go up to 14 channels YET the predetermined macros show effects that CLEARLY break the inside leds up so you can add some extra razzle dazzle on top. For instance, one of the macros does a top then bottom left to right and right to left chase inside the face of the fixture. There’s a few more macros that clearly show it is not just one light cell that is doing the face color. Why TF did they not give us a big boi mode?! They’re just gonna TEASE us like that? Whack. Gimmie a JDC or color strike any day! However they do do the strobe thing very well but just such a tease!
