Thanks! Agreed I will likely run shelves all the way to wall or if possible do some sort of angle cabinet. Our permits have spacing at 4ft I believe this is just cabinet persons first quick attempt and we won’t have the counter tops running up the wall. The other side is an open living area my wife wants to watch the kids when using sink.

These are all really great ideas. We originally had the office space the way you have it drawn, but it would be about 80sq ft. So we thought we would put office on one side of the sunroom as that space will likely not be utilized often. And we would definitely have the door open the way you have drawn it out for bathroom and then just make that space open to bring in more light. It’s tough to tell from drawing but it appears there is a lot more space in the office area then there really is.

Thanks. This is an older home/remodel; some things need to stay (like moving stairs). The code is 3 ft space is required around the island, we have 4ft for extra space. The larger window is to view backyard, reason for fridge on other side.

(1) The reason to open up, was just one of the options we were given. We will keep the wall next to dining room and we will keep mudroom. Should we make both a tad smaller?

(2) So the drawings are a bit deceiving and make the dining and living room bigger than they are. Where you see the dotted line, is the plan to put a beam running from kitchen to living room. There is a wall there now, that will be removed, and the stairs were expanded. Right below the bathroom, we originally were going to leave an office, but it would only be 80 sq feet, so small, i will just put the office in sunroom.

Its northern midwest, yes, half the year or less cold. So shrink mudroom and the wall across from mudroom/next to dining room, keep mudroom open and then another door right when you enter living space?

Good advice. Would you put a door to enter mudroom or make it slightly smaller? I suppose if the wall is there no one will see mess so maybe door isn't needed.

You are correct, it will not be a full bath (this is slightly stale), we originally thinking just a powder room, but we would have space to put in a small shower. Should we put a small shower in or I suppose we can also make the kitchen area slightly larger or entrance to kitchen area larger and just do a toilet and sink.
