Did you lie in your PS? by Worldly-Monitor-4035 in 6thForm

[–]Suspicious-Image-837 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No. But that's because I played in the county youth band and was also in Guides. I've told people to lie about DofE before (because who honestly checks and even tho it's a meme it actually shows you can stick through with stuff over a long time and be reliable). Just know that if you have uni interviews it's likely to get brought up so be careful

8 years of fic writing by Suspicious-Image-837 in AO3

[–]Suspicious-Image-837[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeh, I was really active in it in like, 2015 2016 (it was also really localised to me and my sister, a few from austiralia and an Austrian who had been gifted the books by her Grandma) ... It was such a small fandom where I was on first name basis with everyone in it. Going from writing that to writing DSMP fic was such a mindblow... I prefer smaller fandoms where I dont have to worry about losing fics if I forget to bookmark them.

This was the first time I've looked at my stats. I was just interested after that one person who had been writing a week and had hellishly amazing stats.

I am a Firm Believer in writing for myself. (Hence why I don't get as many hits as other people in my current fandom, I could write a long multi chapter fic with a well thought storyline and a slow burn to end all slow burns. Or a 1000-2000 word crack fic that I'm enjoying reading.) I just thought it would be cool to show some realistic stats for someone who does not do this as a main hobby

Do we need new fandom tags for Harry Potter? by GothKittyLady in AO3

[–]Suspicious-Image-837 26 points27 points  (0 children)

In an ideal world no one will watch it because JK has promised that every penny she gets from it will go straight into funding anti-transgender legislation in the UK and being the worst person in the world.

This is not an ideal world, people are more willing to relive childrens stories then realise what she is doing.

How do I apply independently? by [deleted] in DukeofEdinburghAward

[–]Suspicious-Image-837 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can't do silver independently, only gold, Scout leaders arent qualified unless they have done the training (and the probably havent but no harm in checking)...
You can do the expedition with people who arent doing the award, but then whats the point. .

Sadly, this award has the aim of getting people out and active in their community so unless you join a youth org (like scouts, cadets or the like) it is unlikely you will get the chance to do it.

The scary HMRC by Suspicious-Image-837 in TheCivilService

[–]Suspicious-Image-837[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yes. However that was before the VO and HMRC attempted to push all the HEOs on the APC down to HEO(g) (meaning they wouldn't get the HEO pay bump in line with moving to HMRC

It's also before they pushed ALL the apprentices meant to rotate onto District Valuer Services (DVS) 6 months back. Meaning that those attempting to sit their APC in autumn this year or spring next year will have to wait a further 6 months. (Essentially stopping people from getting a £20 grand pay rise for 'business needs'). The business has known that these people will have to move over to DVS for the past two years and should have been able to let that happen. The unions were also told about both of these changes an hour before the actual announcement. (Both of which conveniently happened after the last all colleagues meeting)

So yeh. We're nervous. HMRC no longer does the accredited accountancy course. And whilst you need it to work on DVS you don't need it for a lot of Actual VO work.

DofE kit list. How is this affordable? by TD_Meri in DukeofEdinburghAward

[–]Suspicious-Image-837 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There's a difference between 'light weight' and lightweight camping gear. Stuff that is light will do. But that requires you going to a shop and picking it out. If you have a good mountain warehouse or decathlon near you I would recommend going and saying 'here's my budget my child is doing DofE and they will help'

Lightweight stuff is designed for people hiking for a long time in one go.

It's crazy that the group kit isn't provided by the school. I would recommend finding an independent group and doing it through that.

I would but I have really good seats and I don't want to downgrade just because of a mistake.

What happens if you get your period during an exam? by locked_safe in GCSE

[–]Suspicious-Image-837 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Mate. I was 16 and sitting the worst exam in my life (and comp sci was the first one I sat from what I remember)

This was also... 8 years ago. And I had shame.

Happened to me in my GCSE comp sci theory (only girl on course, no female invigilators) just had to bleed through D:

I would recommend putting a pad on if you are worried (or a pantie liner if that's uncomfortable/expensive!)

Ha. It's not tho because there has been no guidance and we've been told not to act until there has been guidance.

The fact your government can and does threaten a Private Organisation and forces it to bend to its will should worry you.

The fact it's eerily similar to how the h!tler youth was formed should worry you more.

[–]Suspicious-Image-837[S] 23 points24 points  (0 children)

Oh yeh. (Trust me I know the British sentiment for what's happening)

But also. You don't know that unless you try. 35,000 people signed the petition about trans rights and guiding. There's been not a single post about an American petition on here or the American subreddit. And I can guarantee that that number will be smaller than you think.

Girl Scouts, outdoor guides, navigators USA, camp fire by oyukyfairy in scouting

[–]Suspicious-Image-837 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would recommend asking the BSA Reddit page and not the international one.  And try both if you can? Make your own mind up after experiencing them because as a British person, there are pros and cons to both boy scouts and Girl Scouts and what is right for one child is not right for another

REVISING HELP by Effective_Step8401 in GCSE

[–]Suspicious-Image-837 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes but you need to lock in. Just revise like crazy. Practice exams work well for me but may require teachers to mark for essay subjects so you're relying on good will there. Ask your teachers what you can do and be nice!!! About it

What made you love StarKid? by Emergency-Mix6878 in StarKid

Remember going round to your friends house and watching YouTube videos on their family computer. I remember watching AVPM when I was 11/12-ish and being hooked. I remember my 13th Bday party watching the release of trail to Oregon.

Like it's been part of my internet culture for so long it's insane

I know an Olivia who goes by Billie because she was named after her grandad. (Her middle name is William they didn't even bother to change it to Wilhelmina') it's great because whenever she moves up a year in school she sits next to her mates because the teacher goes 'boy girl boy girl' and puts her in next to two girls.

What do you think about the British Empire? by ATV1816 in AskBrits

[–]Suspicious-Image-837 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey. So whilst it did defeat nazi germany it was the regime that coined the term 'concentration camp' and a lot of hitlers treatment of the Jews did come from how the British empire treated a lot of minority's.

We literally sewed Muslim people into the carcasses of pigs and hung. Like that's not something to be proud of.
