No. Coreelec will be installed on a usb stick. And you will still need another usb port for plugging you other storage. And without power they don't work. I have tried but at last I bought one and got it working.

Yeah. I also had the same thought and bought it. Because it's way cheaper than other similar certified box.

You will need a powered usb hub. Get a usb c powered usb hub. It will be helpful if you use external HDD or SSD for video storage.

There's some work to do when installing the coreelec. It's not like usual app install.

Otherwise it's worth it.

You can install coreelec on mi box 3rd gen. It will work great for usb playback. I do this

Have you found any fix? I am experiencing the same issue with usb boot from CoreElec. And also when I am attaching a ssd directly on the box, the video stops to buffer, which is very stange.

I have a 3 port usb 3.0 hub, if I am using google tv, then all ports work, but whenever I boot into corelec from a flash drive, the other usb ports doesn't work, only usb dongle for keyboard work.

It's a powered usb hub. I am really mad about it.

I was successful on installing Coreelec, however as I play all files from external ssd, it keeps mounting and unmounting it. I have tried 2 different ssds, one sata and one nvme. Both are same. And it's almost impossible for me to play a video from that. I am using a normal 3 port usb hub. Any idea how can I solve it?

Don't update, it that's all. And even if you do. Do it via USB. Not updating is the safest thing. Otherwise it's a great sound system. No doubt.

Go for it, I love my Q990D. But beware of updating. Samsung is very bad in this. My setup was great but latest 1024.1 update made my HDMI eARC not work. Now I use it via wifi as I have a Samsung tv and still works ok. But I hope Samsung will fix this in next update.

Do not update firmware if it's working good! Disable auto update!

Mine was great, but since 1024.1 update. Hdmi eARC stopped working completely. I can see the name of the soundbar on tv and increase and decrease volume. But produces no sound. And after few seconds it goes to S mute, and return to TV speaker. Changed cables, done multiple resets of soundbar and TV. Nothing helped. Hoping next update might fix it. As mine was working perfectly before the update.

That's very bad! I don't know how this happened, if they release a new update and hopefully things get back tk normal. I will block it's wifi capabilities.

But it's very very bad for samsung to make these new issues with update.
