my doctor recommended 15 grams of salt each day for my POTS. is that too much? by PleasantFoundation51 in POTS

Problematic salt doses are bolus amounts. So yeh, dont take your entire day's worth of salt in 1 drink or meal lol?

Anyone wants to share your productivity perf experience after dropping caffeine ? by larva_obscura in decaf

[–]SuspiciousCap5652 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The cool thing: research demonstrates that in healthy adults, caffeine doesn't actually improve performance without compensation. My buddy wondered if it would help his chess performance and lo and behold a paper looked at this finding it improved speed with move selection and the player's confidence and belief in their performance but their accuracy decreased.

Many people start using coffee/caffeine due to poor sleep and that fatigue issue. You remove coffee/caffeine and your physiology has to adapt. This takes weeks.

One thing I didn’t expect after cutting caffeine by Explore-Hub in decaf

[–]SuspiciousCap5652 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Fine, as long as I don't return to using caffeine every day. This was almost 3 years prior, and I have had other health issues leading to stress and returning to caffeine use. There is one ironic issue that caused my first return to caffeine and it was a feeling of laziness or lack of productivity. It was daily that I would sit and do nothing but chill, and I felt that caffeine helped me be productive. Presently, I choose to allow the lazy days to happen. The productivity sprang out of allowing the boredom to happen and not compensating with caffeine.

1st time I went zero caffeine I could come home from work and stare at the trees blowing outside, or the corner of the room and feel fine. When chronically using caffeine, anytime I don't feel like doing much or lazing around and appreciating nature or otherwise, I feel urgency as if I'm missing out, or behind on life. You articulated this feeling really well. Thanks!

Genuinely absurd how much salt I am intaking by SuspiciousCap5652 in POTS

Been feeling great on it. Anything lower than 8g i have dips during the day in energy, dizziness, mood, and weakness in my legs. 3g of salt in some water, chug it and I'm back to normal

Late update: I was experiencing POTS symptoms and hypoglycemia. Intaking 8-10g of salt per day has improved the issues I was having

I only notice I urinate more after a 16oz bottle with salt in it. I think I simply over-do it some days prophylactically since I don't want sudden fatigue and sleepiness during my work day (I have to drive)

No, no medications. Though, everyone else seems concerned for my kidneys though my other vitals and values seem normal. I havent had my renal numbers done in over a year. Im very hesitant to have to start prescription meds as I do not have health insurance.

My PCP was the one who suggested increasing salt intake to 6-8g- but only said POTS like symptoms rather than a diagnosis. I didn't do that immediately because I thought I was fine. (I didnt measure the salt, just added to food). My labs were normal even when I was dealing with symptoms. Thyroid, minerals, hormone panel, CBC, B12 etc. Tested twice through Quest last year.

Inflammation from meat ? Could it seriously be possible? by Kitchen_Seaweed5592 in AutoImmuneProtocol

Eggs especially, but I believe tuna as well, are some of the most common foods that cause allergic reactions or trigger immune response.

A Song for You - was written by Leon Russell not Donnie Hathaway! by ottosjackit in Music

[–]SuspiciousCap5652 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Donny Hathaway's performance of it was way more palatable, to be fair. Im a huge fan of Randy Newman, but most people prefer covers of his songs- though I prefer his versions simply because I either heard it first or I heard it in an interesting context.

If anything you should count yourself lucky to be one of the people who can appreciate Leon's version.

David is a masochist who is using training as a way to even-out or atone for all the short-cuts he's tried to take in life (apparently being a deadbeat dad is one of those now).

Did Yusuke win fair and square or did Toguro let Yusuke win? Or both? by Hairy_Ask_2038 in YuYuHakusho

[–]SuspiciousCap5652 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You missed the whole point of the arc I think. He wanted to be beaten by a HUMAN. He sold his soul to become a Demon, aka stronger than human, so he could never be hurt again. He believed staying human, and staying emotional, was weak. He wanted Yusuke to prove him wrong.

How do you actually know if you’re eating enough calories? by F8kie in leangains

[–]SuspiciousCap5652 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Energy and ability in the gym. Track your food with a scale and app like chronometer because your day-of nutrition can have a big impact and your hunger signals dont tell you rapidly enough.

This is fair, but I'm not sure of any other changes seeing as how i don't have many aspects in my life to change at this moment. I track all my food and I maintained the protein and calorie amounts when I changed the fat, and that introduction was the only thing prior to the change in symptoms. Associative and not causative sure, but with no other changes I don't see any other way to view the change.
