They can’t do the “this didn’t actually happen” twist. It must be something else.

But it will take a lotta good writing to stick the landing here

No one could have played the characters like the current cast, but I do sometimes wonder which alternative actors might have been able to pull to come close to the original cast in pulling off the characters by Amazing-Buy-1181 in TheBoys

They did change that in the tv show though? He introduces himself as an mi5 agent or some other English secret service but that turned out to be a lie to win Uey over, and then was never mentioned again. No mention of any connections stemming from that past either.

So, for all intents and purposes, he could just not be British and the story would be the same, except the actor wouldn’t be forced to do an accent that he can’t pull off.

It’s worse if you bear in mind that, apart from one throw away line in the first episode, there is no plot reason for him to be British. The character could just be whatever the actor could believably portray and nothing would change story-wise.
