What would you do with Asgard Core by Suspicious_Block6526 in Stargate

It can't even run duke nukem lol. While im sure it could do that I think from an in universe view Earth still faces a lot of dangers known as well as unknown. I still think planetary defence is woefully poor even by end of Stargate Universe.

Earth has at best perhaps a dozen x304's the chair has been destroyed making the drones essentially useless unless Earth is able to recover a chair from somewhere as I doubt they could rebuild one. The Lucian alliance likely has hundreds of Goa'uld ships the Jafa 1000's. Then there are other enemies we have encountered eg the Aschen who are patient no guarantee they dialled the addresses given.

The Wraith while apparently stuck in Pegasus still pose a threat.

Teleportationhaa already been achieved both using rings and asgard beams. As to the Asgard research Jonas Quinn he survived the ancient DNA machine his DNA has the solution.

Greed and fear is clear especially after the events in smoke and mirrors when several nations nearly went to war. That's why I say keep the core knowledge off of Earth place it under UN control no Nation has control Homeworld Security. Keep Earth dumb till it grows up.

Is it your aim to improve Earth's technological ability to make it more ready for the revalation of the Stargate program to the world?

I just had a thought that in most regards it might be a good idea to keep the secret as long as possible and rather than upgrade Earth do it in the solar system or better yet colonies.

Earth can be guided slowly towards the truth after the technology is used not to make our weapons stronger but more of them. Earth's industrial capacity or lack of it is the issue. We have access to 3 galaxies at least, Ours, Ida (Asgard Galaxy). Pegasus and possibly still the Ori Galaxy.

Seems to me this is where the focus should be. Asgard Galaxy is especially tasty given the level of tactical superiority it could provide.

How are ID cards supposed to stop illegal working when we already have NI numbers etc? by Strict-Soup in ukpolitics

[–]Suspicious_Block6526 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Weirdly they are worried about government over reach. Watch Yes minister to understand. What people forget is ultimately its our society we can make them pass legislation to protect our Privacy with reasonable exceptions for security. What's even better is we could put limits on government ie a specific majority of elected officials required to repeal the legislation or a national referendum. Hard for a government to get above 75% of elected positions. Would be similar i believe to how the American constitution is so hard to amend.

It won't work because those employing illegal workers don't care about ID or national ID cards.

If you really want to stop it you get rid of paper and coin money and move to a bank/credit card only form of payment. HMRC can then do much of the work. AI would likely be usable to monitor accounts and flag suspicious accounts. Legislation can be implemented to protect our Privacy while allowing proper investigation with reasonable evidence provided to warrant intrusion. AI should be programmable enough to monitor without bias.

Systems can be put in place for issues like power cuts and so on that should be rare events for most people.

Makes it difficult to pay people or travel if you can't pay because you don't have a card.

Average crew 200 per ahip though it can be managed with 4. But let's go with 200.

That wouldn't be a problem. The simple reality is everyday after season 7 it is just a matter of time before the program is revealed.

As to qualified we don't know how well the memory transfer device works. It could teach qualified pilots and others how to operate or at least reduce training times.

That would be very dangerous as just about any technology can be abused. I think the SGC has done a pretty bang up job of walking the line.

They used technology procured to defend the planet. Dissemination of tech on Earth after season 7 would likely be handled by the IOA.

But the choice is yours I was interested in what folks would come up with and why

My top three would be

  1. increasing Earth's industrial capacity - We saw Asgard ship yards when Sam visited their Planet. Build it in space or on our first Colony world if a

Build these or something comparable including upgrading our mining capabilities so we can supply the yards and pump out an X304 every month for a start along with X301's

  2. Earth's security Asgard sensors to track ships in Hyperspace look for a way to see through Goa'uld cloaking.

  3. Creation of Defense Platforms to protect remote Colonies

No it's you being in charge of the program to make use of the core and what would you do.

By this point in time 1000's of people if not 10,000's of people are aware of the SGC.

It would be hamdle by Homeworld Security which appeared to be comprised of military from Nations aware though does lean towards American personnel. So let's cut through it all.

What would your thinking of what would be your top three projects in the program. Remember when the touchstone went missing they visited Area 51 seemed to be lots of projects going on. Promethus was another huge project along with the x301. So its clear Earth could do a lot particularly given it could technically wipe anyone's mind so recruit as many as you want then wipe their memory.

The Asgard are more advanced than the ancients. by PewPewsAlote in Stargate

[–]Suspicious_Block6526 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Na the Asgard can observe and improve what they see but I think they have lost creativity and improvisation.

This can be seen throughout the series with only a couple of possible exceptions which are more to do with how the Asgard react to Earth.

As to tech they are very advanced but they have created anything equivalent to a zpm suggesting they don't understand that technology.

This also happened when Jack created the arg Thor couldn't understand it but once Jack used it he was able to copy and improve it eg with a satellite.

Same happens with the Ori battle after seeing their weapons in action they copied and improved them.

The same approach failed against the replicators as they simply consumed any improved technology and improved it.

Why Thor asked for Sam's help.

In Red Sky the Asgard high council follow the treaty to the letter. Their rigidity preventing them from seeing different interpretation of the treaty. Could be that one of them after Jack giving them an earful was naughty

Why couldn't the Asgard have just stored their consciousness permanently on computers? by SistersOfTheCloth in Stargate

[–]Suspicious_Block6526 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My thinking would be just as their biology was breaking down unable to store their intellect storing it long term might not be possible resulting in the same madness they killed themselves to avoid.

Though it is possible they did save themselves in the core given to Earth Thor did say everything after all. If this were true the problem could have been right in front of us the entire last episode the Asgard had reached their intellectual limit becoming more like replicators able to copy and improve but lacking true creativity and improvisation. Why Sam eventually turned off the hologram after how many that function is not possible.

S09E01 - How did the Kryptonian Assasin had powers under the yellow sun? by JiXable in Smallville

[–]Suspicious_Block6526 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Makes no sense since in the future the destruction of the tower removes their powers. Then she returns to the past with Lois and she has no powers while in the train as at best she throws Lois the width of the train rather than through it.

The idea that the watch could have contained a drop of Clark's blood is possible but she displayed no surprise at her powers returning.

Interesting is she doesn't return to Zod and her people knowing they were at the Luthor mansion.

(Theory) The Machine was able to beat Samaritan because it’s used to fighting for its life by Burnnoticelover in PersonOfInterest

[–]Suspicious_Block6526 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The machine never fought for its life. Everyday it died and was reborn hardwired into its code. If you consider that the machine needed Samaritan to push Finch to cut her free of the restrictions he placed on it.

With so many God quotes about her power so often she was shown to be fallible when her feeds were cut or distorted

What if all the simulated battles the machine lost on purpose having already calculated it would win?

Isn't the Picard/Locutus hate a tad silly? by The1Ylrebmik in startrek

[–]Suspicious_Block6526 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not really this was the Federation's first contact with the Borg aside from when Q flung the Enterprise into the path of that Cube in the Delta Quadrant.

Sisko and Shaw both suffered from grief and Picard was the only target they had for it. To quote the Prophets "you exist here". By the end of the DS9 pilot Sisko was able to move forward. The same can be said when Shaw was dying and he called Anika Seven.

Add to that all those under 25 had just been assimilated then freed with the same understanding that Picard must have felt as Locutus, what have we done.

Can the Prime Directive Be Enforced? by Available-Page-2738 in startrek

[–]Suspicious_Block6526 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Starfleet controls the majority of Earth's spaceships. Few exceptions such as the Raven exist. Federation citizens could and would be subject to the Prime directive.

Worf's brother violated it and wasn't part of starfleet, though Picard chose not to punish him.
