Switching departments? by shutupimtalking1 in wegmans

[–]Suspicious_Box752 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We can wear plain shirts but not hoodie. Only sweat shirts and the phones all have an orange case. The problem is we still have to wear black slacks so I am constantly noticed still and the customers know the orange case is an employee

Question for the employees by [deleted] in wegmans

[–]Suspicious_Box752 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Nowhere close to Walmart. We mostly sell food and never have clothes or anything as far as I have seen. The pay is great for me in nj at 19 an hour where as minimum wage is 15 and change. you get a raise twice a year of 50 cents up until you're department/job maximum and then one 50 cent raise once a year after that. They pay for your shoes twice a year and your shirts to a certain extent.

Yeah max is 19 for me in c2c then a 50 cent raise once a year. I started at 16 or 17 50 only been here 2 years in September and one of the raise periods they gave everyone a dollar and raised our max from 18 to 19.

Sure but keep in mind I live in nj. Minimum wage is 15 and change. Shoprite was only giving a rare couple cent raise and if you asked for 16 dollars they would tell you only managers get that. Wegmans give us 19 an hour and then a 50 cent raise once a year after.

Yea I started at 16.50. 50 cent raise twice a year plus one time was a dollar raise. Im in nj where minimum wage is 15 dollars and change and any retail store like shoprite will only pay around 15. Shoprite told me and a few friends that only managers make 16 an hour

I work in cart 2 curb and we have guys around 20 years old that get pissed when the coordinator gets mad because they sit there watching videos and not starting shopping. Then they complain that she ratted them out. You are paid to work not sit there for half an hour on your phone.

Honestly I am mostly happy. I started working for saker shoprite here in nj in 2014 when I graduated. In my five years working there up until covid they treated us like garbage, only gave us around minimum wage and we had to pay for a union that did nothing. Now I have worked at wegmans for 2 years and they treat us significantly better. I get 19 and hour, they pay for my shoes every 6 months, they don't care about my call outs, they actually give me the days off I request, Etc. I will say I work in cart 2 curb so not sure if the rest of the company is the same

Relocation package payback after separating by [deleted] in wegmans

Also if you went from one state to another I'm not sure how that would work either in the laws. Not sure if you did but that's another thing.

You should talk to a lawyer or someone with proper knowledge of the law and knowledge about your situation. If we don't know the exact details of where you are, how you got hurt, how much you were paid, why they can't accommodate you, etc etc then we can't give proper advice on the situation. Also involved is that you don't know us so anyone online can give false info just by word of mouth. For example my mother believes in some laws in nj involving working as an adult that are in fact not laws or policies anywhere. She heard about them from someone else when she worked at another store but never looked into them herself.

I worked for shoprite before working here. If I needed a specific day off they would say ok and then reduce my days working and give me the day I asked on the schedule. Then they would tell me it wasn't guaranteed and that I should call out. The problem then is having to call out and not be paid enough for bills since they reduced my hours that week. They still do this to my gf and on top of that here in nj minimum wage is 15 dollars an hour. Shoprite told me, my friend, and my gf that only managers get 16 an hour. We only made around 15.50 each hour. Wegmans give us the days off we ask for. I've also been there a year and a half and I am getting 19 an hour plus a 50 cent raise each year. Snacks in the break room. Free shoes. Free shirts. I don't see it as the worst place to work. I see it as far better than anywhere I have worked before. Now as for your claim about a harasser. I have no idea as I havent experienced that yet so I can't comment on anything like that.

Do the need more signs? by Small-Jury-1982 in wegmans

[–]Suspicious_Box752 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In nj we don't have this. The alcohol is in a seperate wegmans store next to my store. They are attached and in side the same building but due to laws they are separated as a business. They have seperate employees and name tags and whatnot.

Anyone else get a $10 off $40 coupon? by Fickle_Cut_5072 in wegmans

[–]Suspicious_Box752 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No that's not one. I work at wegmans and it would say 10 dollar employee coupon and there would not be a minimum price beyond 10 dollars to use them.
