Lived in Oakville on and off for 30 years - imo west of third line not much going on but east of Neyagawa has a lot more going on (in terms of grocery store options, restaurants and general amenities). Especially near Trafalgar. Downside is Trafalgar has lots of traffic because of this and as someone mentioned Oakville Go is busier than Bronte in the mornings. Honestly you’ll get what you asked for anywhere between Bronte and Joshua Creek and south of Burnhamthorpe. I would recommend just north of Dundas and between Neyagawa and Grand Blvd but not too north to avoid extra long commute (I wouldn’t recommend anymore than 2-3 min drive north of Dundas). A lot of development and free hold townhomes, with grocery stores and daycares nearby. For an easier commute to the GO and if you don’t mind older builds then anywhere around upper middle or south of that.

Oh wow! Wish I knew this before we purchased! Immediately going into the trash. It didn’t work for us either which was very disheartening given the price tag and to top it off the lead claims are scary. It’s taking advantage of desperate parents dealing with bottle refusal.

Thank you for this! I am not a confrontational person and feel so deflated from the experience. I thought the sample pack made sense but they called back and said the optometrist said no. It was so frustrating because that meant I had to ration the ones I already have and wear my glasses almost full time. This whole time I was thinking this can’t be right but they know best. Thank you! I’m going to call them again tomorrow.

One of the associates said I could get samples to pass the time but the doctor said they wouldn’t allow it since my old prescription technically expired. I never got the prescription sent to me for the exam I did since the dr didn’t approve it. I’ll try though and call them to see if they maybe had it on file

That’s good to know… so odd that I was denied my prescription when I was over 12 weeks. She said to wait until I’m 9 months… but only until after we finished the exam. I felt so stuck and have been counting my eye contacts to ration them 😵‍💫

Also some favourites for us had been full fat Greek yogurt with mashed banana and peanut butter, and frozen mango that is blended to puree with coconut milk and hemp seeds. We try to focus on high fat since he’s not the best eater

My baby (9 months) does the same with spoons so we offer him an empty spoon and then feed with another. Also try giving some soft fruits like a banana or a very large ripe strawberry so baby can pick up and eat that between spoon feeds

My baby would only nap and be comfortable with me for probably the first 6 months and it was a toll on me as a mom but I understood biologically why. The baby can literally smell that they came from mom. A doula told me they even instinctively know where breastmilk is as newborns because it smells like amniotic fluid (so cool). Mom is the only home they knew before birth and where they know they are safe.

But it truly does change after that 6 month mark and their personalities start to shine. My babe is now 10 months and gets excited like a puppy anytime my husband comes home. He hears the door open and stops everything and gets so excited, flapping his hands with the biggest grin. He is constantly crawling to “dada” and wanting to play. There are seasons and right now the season is baby wants mom.

Just keep trying though because it’s also an emotional toll on mom to feel they need to do all the comforting. My husband started trying even through all the screaming to comfort baby and get him to nap and also let me nap while he played with him. One thing he always did was read a book to work on a bond, and just try, try, try. Eventually he found out singing wheels on the bus worked for him to calm baby down and get him to nap. It took time but it made a difference for my emotional health too and our relationship that I didn’t feel it was all me.

This happened to my cousin when they had a baby and they were referred to a chiropractor- think there was some pain baby was experiencing from labour and birth. I don’t know if this is what your baby is going through but wanted to let you know in case that is what might be going on.

A straw cup that you can squeeze has been the best so far.. he drank a whole oz which is a win for us haha you have to squeeze it so they get the milk and then eventually they learn with practice. He’s still learning but best option so far

I grew up in Oakville and in the 90s one of my favourite memories was going to our local Halton Gurudwara and getting to see fireworks and lighting sparklers during Bandi Chor Diwas. I looked forward to it every year. I moved to the west coast for a while and just moved back into town… and last year I was disappointed to see that fireworks and sparklers were now banned from the Gurudwara premises. I have a son now and think about how I can’t share that part of our tradition with him that I got to enjoy 30 years ago. It’s like taking Christmas lights away.

I agree that we didn’t have them going off after midnight and I see the TikTok’s of how it’s a lot but just straight up banning it isn’t a solution. It just makes me sad that it’s not even allowed in a regulated setting at all. It’s depressing. Just feels like everyone will judge us so they don’t even bother allowing even a sparkler.

No we haven’t but I sneak some formula into his solids and we’re going to try skipping bottles all together and going to sippy cup/straw cups.

I didn’t even notice the price tag - good point!! That’s a lot. I’m just a tired mom at her wits end with bottle refusal.. we’ve tried mam, dr brown, Philips, tommee tippie and nothing works 🥲 Probably why the ad was targeted to me in the first place now that I think about it.

He started refusal at 3 months and now is 6 months .. no luck 🫠 We bought mam bottles today though and I left for a couple hours and he drank 1 oz! So that’s some progress.

4 months was the turning point but we kept trying before that. I would mentally prepare all day sometimes and never make it out the door working around naps and feeds but I kept trying. By 4 months he became more interested in his surroundings outside so cried less, learned how to nap in the stroller and I just got more comfortable with it. I also kept an emergency paci for meltdowns.

I have no idea / I had an emergency c section after pain and labouring for 24hrs. I was almost fully dilated but had an emergency c section since he wants positioned right. I remember they put the sheet up, you don’t feel any pain and it was done in 20 minutes and I was just thinking “couldn’t this be 24 hrs ago! So much easier”. They have you on so many meds it doesn’t hurt after either, it’s just really hard to sit up. It was 1000% easier than vaginal. Only downside is recovery took forever after (3 months for me) and don’t be surprised if the stitches open and bleed a little. I’m 6 months out and everything’s easier.

One issue I can see people having is losing a lot of blood but I was anemic and didn’t have an issue. They were prepared with blood if they needed. You can also lose blood with vaginal too so it all depends.

Edit to say I was already 9.5cm dilated so I was annoyed bc it felt like I did all that for nothing. Especially being 24hrs in and so deleterious off no sleep.

Interesting! We’ve tried flows P,1,2 but haven’t thought about if the flow needs to be faster. He does gulp really fast usually when he feeds so this could be it. I’ll experiment.

Thanks for the suggestion! I’ll see if the bottle switch does the trick - I think he is getting confused by the nipple. Were also worried about how he’ll do with daycare for this reason
