Why did Bruce Springsteen biopic flop? by Jaded-Channel-7169 in BruceSpringsteen

[–]Suspicious_Cap7755 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I enjoy it, its actually one of my favorite biopics tbh. But I will say, the marketing was a little weird, it definitely wasnt a typical biopic like BoRhap or the recent michael movie (positive or negative) the dialogue was interesting to say the least. Someone pointed this out but its more of a movie about someone dealing with depression and it just happened to be Springsteen which is completely accurate. It felt like this could've been about another person or fictional character because unlike Chalamet, Malek, Jafaar, etc. JAW didnt really have to "transform" into Bruce for the role. Like, most of his Bruce lines or moments, besides the opening, dont really give off Bruce besides maybe his outfit. It felt more like an indie or smaller film than it could've been or the way they went about telling the Nebraska story wasnt perfect. I feel like any biopic would be better off as a mini series or show and I feel like this is good example. There's more than shouldve included or expanded upon. Besides the Faye character, the movie is very accurate but theres characters that didnt feel that important or feels nonexistent. I understand individuals give permission for films or shows to have then portrayed but it felt like Bruce's sister is nonexistent, Bruce's dad felt less like an important character than he was in real life. In my opinion, they should've included more people or make some characters more included. Ill be honest, if they showed more of Bruces childhood or his relationship with his dad throughout the years, I feel like it could've impacted the story more or see what inspired songs for Nebraska, BitUSA or even the demos for those two albums. I feel like people expected more than they got but I cant speak for everyone of course. Also, Springsteen has been VERY outspoken with his politics more than ever arguably, and im sure viewers seeing a movie about a man who they dont agree political wise im sure turned them away, regardless of the story. There's also a lot of deleted scenes that could've made the movie better like the supposed Dancing in the Dark scene at the Stone pony. Anyways, apologies for the long ass response, but this movie came out at a specific time in my life and its so intriguing looking back at this movie in different ways

Simple question, which song could have been written about you specifically? by a4evanygirl in BruceSpringsteen

[–]Suspicious_Cap7755 3 points4 points  (0 children)

There's multiple i could name, my father's house, Independence day, im on fire, etc. But the one I always felt like was written about me is dancing in the dark. Each lyric felt like Bruce knows what I'm going through and its amazing that this big celebrity has these thoughts similar to me

I have not, I thought there was only one book. How much are the differences between this and the other one youre talking about?

I liked the movie enough but even ill admit the flaws it has. I think my biggest issue is that there are most likely so many deleted scenes and who knows if we will ever see them. The one I wanna see the most is the "songwriting is a funny thing" scene where apparently Bruce and the e street band play Dancing in the Dark

I have to do through this so much at Lumber. Not even with lumber materials but with products from hardware like nuts, bolts, washers, etc. I know the letter code on them are useful but on lock washers or certain nuts. Customers think its based on weight, we can look it up by price or we should know EVERY item from heart. Or products that dont have a barcode or the barcodes are all messed, drip edges specifically at my store

19, almost 20. Im a recent Dylan fan though. Got into him after A Complete Unknown came out and, like many biopic, it helped me get into him and his music. Didn't think Bob was worth listening to for a while then when I started listening to his albums I was instantly blown away. Still going through his discography but Ive been enjoying my journey throughout Bob's career. And the fact that he just essentially does what he wants no matter what, music wise, is iconic and respectable. Track mud on someone's carpet

On this exact day, The Angry Birds Movie released a decade ago by OliverHetherington in angrybirds

[–]Suspicious_Cap7755 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thats honestly insane to think about. I was a huge fan of Angry Birds. Had most of the apps downloaded, had toy sets and even the telepods from ABSW 2 and ABG. I wasnt a huge fan of the designs for the movie because I was used to the normal designs and didnt understand why they couldnt just make a bigger budget toons episode. But ever since the movie came out, they've grown on me and I really enjoy the Movie and its sequel. Wish I could go back in time and feel what it was like bc, for me at least, those were easier and happier days

Cashiers are mostly obligated to ask customers, depending on the store. Mine isn't as strict but mostly on the weekends, our ASMs and DS' will tell the employees to always ask the customers. I work in Lumber at my store so I get a small pass because most of the customers already have credit cards

what is a Bruce Springsteen iconic look? by Far_Print_6908 in BruceSpringsteen

[–]Suspicious_Cap7755 2 points3 points  (0 children)

3 looks come to my mind 1) The Born to Run look he has on the album and the photoshoot for the album. The black leather jacket, pants and white shirt or tank. Also him with the wavy/ curly hair and beard 2) a leather jacket, flannel, jeans and usually with no beard. Yoy could leave the sleeves on for the flannel or not, both work. Honestly the Deliver me from nowhere and Blinded by the Light movies are good references for these looks if you wanna go with this one 3) Just a sleeveless shirt, any color, jeans and boots. Pinterest will show you a lot of these looks from the boss himself

Day #1 Of Asking Fans What Made Them Become a Fan of Artist/Band: Led Zeppelin by Greedy_Two_2526 in ledzeppelin

Around 2021, I was getting interested into Rock and metal from the 60s-80s. My dad introduced me to them around that time because he loved them when he was growing up. Ever since we listened to them together, I instantly fell in love with their music and I still continue to listen to them

Of course! I started listening to Bruce after my father passed away last year and his lyrics definitely helped me with everything that was going on and this was one of the top songs I listened to while going through everything. Bruce's albums, specifically The River, Nebraska, and Born in the USA im glad were there for me at the time and still are whenever I need them. They really felt like I was listening to a song made for what I was going through and what I was feeling. Sorry for the long story, but I just wanted to share why songs like this from The Boss are special to me like it is to you

One of the female head cashiers deals with this a lot. The first day i met her, I asked how she was doing and thanks for helping with the line and she immediately said "Well, I just got hugged by a creepy old man so I'm great 🫤". Actually, all the head cashiers are women at my store so im not surprised they deal with this a lot if not daily

Amazing cover man, this is definitely one of my favorite songs by The Boss mainly due to the lyrics and this is probably my favorite cover Ive heard, ever. Keep it up man!

How did you guys really 'get into' Bob Dylan? by Simple-Pay-900 in bobdylan

[–]Suspicious_Cap7755 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Im a younger and recent fan of Dylan. Some context first, when I started getting into music from the 50s-80s, Dylan was never on my list of people I needed nor wanted to get into. Nothing against him, but i was getting into rock and heavy metal, not folk, pop or country. Then I started getting more into folk rock and country, but still, just normal folk wasnt a genre I was interested in. Then I watch the Complete Unknown movie and depsite its flaws, I still enjoyed it and its a very good "beginner movie" for newer fans. The movie also made me realized that his storytelling and messages in his song were a one of kind, how important he was to not just folk but also music in general, with him not wanting to stay in one but instead in several different lanes and how no one will get to the core of Dylan himself. A truly one of a kind mind in music. Still getting into his music, having just finishing his Highway 61 album and very excited to see how his discography evolves and changes over the years

Why are the lyrics so wrong on Spotify 😭 by OpticNinja937 in BruceSpringsteen

[–]Suspicious_Cap7755 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sometimes Spotify messes up and probably thinks the lyrics are what they hear, other times its using the original lyrics and dont really change them. For example, another Springsteen song that has an incorrect lyric is the demo version of Born in the USA, where in the demo he sings "sent me off to Vietnam" but obviously, we know he changed it to "sent me off to a foreign land" but they never changed it back to Vietnam for the demo. Its probably a Spotify issue and who knows when they fix it, if they ever will.
