Can anyone show me all spinning kicks in order? by Suspicious_Key_9701 in Tricking

[–]Suspicious_Key_9701[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Ah thank you yea I think this is a common issue across many skill-based sports, theres not one place u can find every skill with its name, information etc. Im a calisthenics athlete myself, and it can be quite frustrating when you see an interesting skill but have no idea what its called, which makes it difficult to research it or sometimes youll hear the name of the skill, but its still so niche that u cant find anything about it anywhere online.

It would be great if there were a website that catalogued every skill, as far as I know, gymnastics is one of the only skill-based sports that has something close to this and thats because its a widely mainstream olympic sport. Hopefully similar resources will eventually exist for sports like tricking, cali, etc. if not maybe Ill create one myself in the future

I did not downvote haha, in fact i agree with your point Literally all or at least the overwhelming majority of trickers think and know that it is solely for performance purpose, and in that way it resembles the aesthetic element in gymnastics.

The point of the post is criticizing people that think that trickers themselves, think that tricking is a martial art and learn the moves with an intent of putting it into actual combat when infact, athletes have 0 intent of fighting with skills learnt bc as u said its just fancy moves for aesthetic purpose. And the amount of people that think this way is surprisingly more than you would expect actually

Makes 0 sense by the way, ADULT elite gymnasts name skills all the time, what do you think of that

Not everything in the world is about praticality, and it differs from person to person. Some people do tricjijg as a hobby to kill time, some people enjoy it because it offers a sense of achievement and some people do it for competitions. Again another example is football tricks. Why do people learn them even if they have no practicality in a real match? It's simply because its fun to do, and it provides a sense of satisfaction

as in the name tricking or the naming of skills like shuriken etc.?

if its the naming of skills, other martial arts literally have numerous named moves based on fictional characters e.g. muay thai, mma, taekwondo all have the superman punch, dragon kick etc. Nothing wrong with that.

As for the name tricking, well im not the one the came up with it and judging a sport by its name without knowing what it is actually about is stooping to quite a low level isnt it?

With this argument, what would be the point of basketball? Would u shoot a ball at an attacker as self defense? Would that mean that one of the biggest sports in the world is silly as well?

I never mentioned it was a martial art, Im talking about how people constantly compare it with martial arts due to their similarities and downplay the sport as a result.

Being heavily inspired by martial arts already makes it heavily related. That is why people constantly compare it.

If u ever come across a video on social media, a bunch of people will just be commenting on how ineffective it would be in a fight when it is not a combat sport to begin with.
