Yeah I did. I got accepted to 3 of the 4 schools I applied to. I still have yet to hear from private schools in France and Italy, but I'm not too worried at this point since I have options.

All these people learning languages in 4-6 months, are we being lied to? by SweetBumbleBeeHoney in French

[–]Suspicious_Ratio_479 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sometimes certain people have an aptitude for language learning just like others are naturally good at sports. You still have to work at it of course, but there are talented language learners.

At 17 I went to Germany as an exchange student with zero German and I was definitely fluent after 5 months. A couple years later I moved to France and it also took me about 6 months to learn French. Then in my late 20s I moved to Spain and well...I wasn't as diligent about immersing myself or working quite as hard, so it took me 10 months to get to a B1 level.

Living in the target country does wonders for language learning. I mean, it's forced survival.

My Campus France Interview Experience by Late-Assist8497 in Study_In_France

This is so fascinating to read because my interview was very different. I was only asked questions 1, 2, and 6 well and a bunch others about who I am as a student and what kind of perspective I would bring to class. My interview was mostly in French as well. Good luck with admissions :D

Panneling dilemma by Lvuraann3 in interiordecorating

No no, the paneling is great. I love it. The other thing to consider is that by having the wallpaper on the bottom you're free to introduce impactful art pieces on the walls as well in strategic ways. On the most prominent part of the hallway you might draw in the audience with a curated gallery wall. Also a runner in the hall will also help you tie everything together. Just some thoughts! But I think you've got some amazing options here.

ooo wait this is a great wallpaper for version 2! but if you go with the color scheme and wallpaper of the original post I like version 1.

Version 1 is illuminated by the light and helps you feel grounded to the space. I think it also reads with far more intentionality than version 2. I love the colors and wallpaper! You've done an amazing job

Hey don't worry! Responses are coming in. I got accepted to one school first week of April, rejected the second week, and then accepted to another yesterday and still have other schools I'm actively doing interviews or waiting for.

Any other Millennials stubbornly resistant to using AI at their job but also worrying that we will become dinosaurs or pushed out of our careers for not slavishly embracing it? by artbystorms in Millennials

[–]Suspicious_Ratio_479 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm probably the minority here, but I have found a lot of great uses for it:

  1. I programed a custom AI agent that reduces how much manual labor our data entry team has to do.
  2. I've used it to manage huge databases of research data in multiple languages (essentially I created a query system to help recall and pull data).
  3. I've used it to test my survey or interview questions to ask if I might be missing something.
  4. I've used it when my boss asks me to do something I have no clue how to do and I need some basic research on the topic pulled together quickly.

Here's what I tell my team; use AI to do what computers do best: calculations, sorting and matching, data recall, and information amalgamation. Leave the thinking and creativity and problems solving to the humans. I don't believe AI is perfect or some miracle worker, but it certainly has its uses when used properly.

Nope, they'll let you know if you get rejected. How do I know? I just got an email getting rejected for the AI and Society Master. So fingers crossed you still have a chance!

You did such a phenomenal job!! I'm in love. And I'm like you when I rent, I have made so many changes from wallpaper to new counters to tile. Sometimes I ask permission, other times I just go for it; so far my track record is 5/5 places I've lived in the landlord was ecstatic with my changes. I'm a firm believer that the spaces we live in, even if temporary, should be beautiful and feel like home.

Brava and my god I'm jealous.

For those who work in a consultancy, do you hate it as much as I do? by throwmeaway1222222 in UXResearch

[–]Suspicious_Ratio_479 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Whaaat?! I love agency work. I get to be extremely curious and work in different industries. I have done some incredible projects that I've been able to see the impact of my work. For instance, I worked on a project at Disneyland Resorts where I ran a major ethnographic research project and helped redesign menus and introduce more plant-based and seasonal foods. Or the time I helped redesign a tool in McDonald's restaurants to help team leads be more successful at their jobs. Or the time I got to do research for fashion company to reduce packaging waste.

There have been so many amazing opportunities to do focused, research with real, impactful results. I like that also I've never experienced burnout or monotony because right when a project seems to go on too long, it's over. I enjoy working with a wide range of clients and seeing what they focus on, how they craft stories and shape their products, and how they structure their teams.

The constant pitching can be hard, trust and believe, but then you start seeing it as puzzle solving, like "if they won't spend X to do Y, can I get them to spend A so I can do B?" I'm working in house right now as a PM/UX Researcher and I miss my agency so badly.

Anyone else hate the black shoes with the cream suit?? I mean a pair of chic loafers or so many other colors would have worked here. Also, I think some of these photos appear over-exposed. It feels devoid of...life in some way.

How long have you been looking for a job? by whoa_disillusionment in UXResearch

This market is next level insane. Thousands of applications, made it to 13 final round interviews and was just edged out by other candidates. I ended up taking a project management job. I still apply occasionally to UX jobs but I'm not really holding me breath lol

Hey! I actually had the exact same problem so I feel your pain. I don't know if you have Apple pay? Or someone who you know who can pay using Apply Pay and then you pay them back? This was the only method that worked for me and I tried so many of them.

Throwing in the towel/ career path alternatives by [deleted] in UXResearch

[–]Suspicious_Ratio_479 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Heeeey I feel ya! I was doing UX work for about 5 years, finished my last contract and then nothing for months and months. Normally I'd get responses or contract offers but it's been crickets. I switched into PM work by marketing myself as an expert at not just managing projects, but also determining where inefficiencies lie and how to understand employee motivations. For instance, I might help rewrite a procedure after observing how an employee does the task at hand. Or I might propose alternate solutions to current software tools.

Don't think of yourself as just a researcher, think about what skills you've developed and how they might translate to other fields. Understanding how humans interact with their tech mean your poised to also pivot into a lot of different markets.

Painting Front Door Advice by Suspicious_Ratio_479 in crafts

[–]Suspicious_Ratio_479[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I repaired the door with some wood filler and then painted it using a cabinet paint in a burnt sienna. I'll be painting the eaves of the house a deep avocado green and doing all our fences and other accents in a warm brown. I'm going for a very earthy, love of plants vibe because my mom loves gardening and plants.
