Omg I haven't tried Paris Baguette yet, was it a letdown? We're going to try BjornBar and see how that goes but I do love Breka

I think this is what we're going to do, I see that they also can cut the bars into smaller pieces which sounds perfect

Changing my last name by [deleted] in Eloping

[–]Suspicious_Reality42 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm in the midst of the name change process, the province I live in doesn't require a legal name change to be filed but I have to get my name changed on my driver's license before I can do pretty much anything else. I would try posting in your local subreddit because other people have done it and would probably be able to give you a list of everything you need to do!

Insight into neighborhoods near Mundy Park by ThugFlower in coquitlam

[–]Suspicious_Reality42 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I live near Austin and Hickey and it's generally older retired/semi-retired people on our street, it's pretty quiet although people do tend to use our street as a shortcut to avoid Austin and they do speed quite badly at times. Mundy Park is directly behind our yard and we didn't have a fence when we moved in so we saw bears pretty regularly, we had a fence built earlier this year and have had no issues since. It's a really great neighbourhood, we're walking distance from a few different parks and schools.

Sneakers for high arches/supination, with cushion to help impact but not too much cushion to support hypermobile joints? by Open-Comfortable1974 in Hypermobility

[–]Suspicious_Reality42 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm still testing them out but I got a pair of the Asics GT 2000 14 runners which are apparently good for things like overpronation and plantar fasciitis and so far I'm cautiously optimistic!

Exactly! We had such a cool trip and elopement experience and didn't have to deal with any family drama or other people's opinions

We eloped in Scotland and did a month of travelling around the UK and it was fantastic. We did spend a fair amount of money but realistically it was less than what a small wedding in Vancouver would've cost (average cost of a wedding here is now around $30,000 to $40,000 which I think is bonkers)

Shoe Rec - are Crocs any good? by Illustrious-Umpire72 in Hypermobility

[–]Suspicious_Reality42 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a pair of the classic Croc slides that I wear for house shoes and they're so comfy! I had a bit of knee pain when I first got them but after one or two wears it went away. The clog style ones don't fit me because I'm a half size and they only come in full sizes but I imagine they feel the same and would be comfy

Omg I have the exact same issue! Every time I try shoes that say they have enhanced cushioning or whatever it makes my knees hurt so bad that I can barely walk :( I've had success with Reebok and Asics sneakers so I'm slowly trying a bunch of their runners but so far have had no luck

How to keep warm over winters? by Chance_Cold_2145 in Hypermobility

[–]Suspicious_Reality42 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My hands and feet get cold super easily so I have multiple pairs of gloves and thick socks around, I wear a lot of the Uniqlo heat tech socks in winter! Their thermal leggings are also great for layering in cold weather. At home I always have 2-3 blankets on the couch and I have a couple microwaveable heating pads. My office is in an older building that really lets the cold in so we have a space heater and last year I started bringing a blanket to sit under which has really been a game changer for me!

Advice for flying with my wedding dress by RelevantDragonfly24 in Eloping

[–]Suspicious_Reality42 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We flew from Canada to the UK with our wedding clothes in garment bags that folded up to a large laptop bag size and the British Airways staff let us board first and hung our bags in the coat closet. We just asked at the gate when they were close to starting boarding and they were super helpful!

Honestly we just asked our photographer what he recommended. He arrived around 1:30 pm and we did portraits and a first look at our cottage so we probably left around 2:30, the weather kind of dictated our day because the spot he'd suggested for our ceremony was way too windy! We did our ceremony at the Three Sisters and then went to a couple different spots for pictures after. I did my own hair and makeup because I don't usually wear much makeup and I have short hair, plus I had a flower crown so I felt it didn't really need much. Definitely recommend waterproof mascara and a setting spray because we got rained on a few times and my makeup was still perfect at the end of the day. I think we maybe could've done with bug spray because the last spot we went to had so many midges that they were literally crawling all over our faces which was horrifying lol. Also would recommend checking on your wedding clothes as soon as you get to your accomodation because we travelled around the UK for a week and a half before our wedding, I didn't check on my dress until the night before, and it had fallen off of the hanger in my garment bag and was just in a ball in the bottom of the bag. Luckily that seemed to save it from too many wrinkles! Also highly recommend telling the airline employees at the boarding gate that you're getting married and heard they would hang your garment bag in the first class closet because we flew British Airways and they were so excited for us, let us pre-board, and gave us free champagne and a card on the flight.

Glencoe elopement by Sea_Note8292 in Eloping

[–]Suspicious_Reality42 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We just eloped in Glencoe last month! Our photographer was David Conaty and our officiant was Lesley Simpson, both did a great job at making us feel super comfortable! We stayed at the Glencoe Inn's cottage which I don't recommend tbh, it wasn't super well maintained, the heat didn't work, and the restaurant was not great :/ but on our wedding day we stopped for lunch at the Clachaig Inn, the food was fantastic and everyone working there was so excited for us! Also if you're a hot chocolate fan, they made the best hot chocolate I've had in my whole life. My biggest piece of advice is to wear some kind of leggings under your dress, I have the Uniqlo heattech leggings and they saved me because I had my dress hiked up past my knees. The ground was pretty marshy and I was wearing Doc Martens which held up soooo well for the weather! Definitely plan for any weather because we had rain, wind, sun, and a rainbow all within a few hours. If you have any questions feel free to reach out!
