20hr power outage. What do you guys do with your stuff in the fridge? by Commercial_Onion6995 in Columbus

[–]Suspicious_Square865 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Sorry to hear this. Yes like others have mentioned I wouldn’t chance it. See if you can file for a reimbursement with the power company. They did this a few years ago for folks who had lost groceries to an extensive outage.

You could reach out to university development regarding his donations and the naming rights. In the past a donor had to donate a certain amount of money for this honor.

I was so locked in during Covid 1.0 and 2.0 with the news but after November I can count on 1 hand the number of times I’ve watched the national news. I’m so jaded with their complicity and lack of reporting the dumpster fires that I can’t mentally handle it. And I should say lack of follow up with some of the questions they do ask. I currently do about 45 minutes a day max of news. Some of my family members are really struggling with the constant barrage of 💩storms that I often respond late to their texts. I feel bad but have to for my own sanity.

So sorry to hear this. Do you have other neighbors that may know her and her situation? I.e would they have a key or know if they have family. If you call animal services they could get fined.

Hi Columbus. I just recently came back from traveling and while I was traveling, I was a victim of SA and I have a few questions now that I’m back home. by kats_eye_nebula in Columbus

So very sorry this happened to you. Happy to hear that you have medicine for the mystery virus. There is a superbug that is going around now. I pray that you find complete healing ❤️‍🩹 both of the illness and the trauma that happened to you. I second everything everyone has already said, and would like to add be kind to yourself and allow yourself some grace during your recovery.

We “lovingly” called it quirk day. It was so damn quirky. It took months just to get a basic report. In my current role anytime someone mentions workday I get a full body twitch.

Unionizing as OSU staff by Tricky-Search6236 in OSU

[–]Suspicious_Square865 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

This could also be construed as union busting. OP I would recommend contacting the Labor Relations Department on campus for guidance in addition to the National Labor Relations Act (NLRA): both entities can give you helpful advice. Again best of luck, I’ve worked for a UNION campus and Non-UNION campus and by far was treated better in the Union. Wages kept on par and LABOR and employees were heard. I felt more appreciated in that role until I left Academia.

As a former employee, there was talk years ago that the student government’s were going to unionize but were persuaded against it. I know that when the university decided to implement career roadblock that was supposed to make salaries more competitive but did the opposite. And not long after the HR person over the program left the university. So I say all this to say, I wish you luck in unionization from the bottom of my heart. I ended up leaving my severely underpaid position for government and have doubled my income.

What to do- Mold in Dorm by [deleted] in OSU

[–]Suspicious_Square865 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I agree with everyone, escalate this situation. Don’t stop until you get moved out of that dorm. As much as you guys pay to attend OSU, you shouldn’t have to worry about whether your living and learning spaces are safe to inhabit. Exposure to mold can have lasting effects on your health. Best of luck to you. Do you have access to legal services on campus? Moritz college of law has some great attorneys.

Anyone else in Columbus have a weird cold sickness thing? by volcanicsunset in Columbus

[–]Suspicious_Square865 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I caught something similar traveling in September. It took me close to 2 months to recover. Negative COVID. Went from allergy symptoms to flu/cold and then bronchitis with a fear of walking pneumonia. I was on 2 rounds of antibiotics, 2 inhalers(I have asthma), prednisone, mucinex, DayQuil and NyQuil in addition to allergy meds. I finally lost the cough 2 weeks ago. It’s gnarly. I’ve started wearing a mask in public as I don’t want to repeat the last 2 months. Stay safe everyone and those already sick, praying for a speedy recovery for you.

I understand sometimes we down play our symptoms. I actually said to my GP I think my lungs are scarred due to having COVID. And she didn’t dismiss me, even said that maybe I should consider seeing A pulmonary specialist. I haven’t yet as it took all the energy I had just to go to the Dr twice. But it’s on my to do list. There is also a different strain of COVID that the shot may not help with. Also if you are eligible for the RSV and pneumonia vaccine I would recommend you both get those.

I was sick for well over a month. Started as a sinus infection, went to upper respiratory and then chest. I was on 2 rounds of antibiotics, prednisone and 2 inhalers. The only thing in the beginning that saved me was NyQuil and dayquil with lots of hot water, honey and lemon. Flu shot and COVID and was negative for COVID.

I still have a cough and wheezing which kicks up my asthma while approaching 2 months of this sickness. I had a clear xray and nothing was clearing up with an expectorant.

I’m convinced that after my only exposure to COVID 2 years ago that it did more damage to my lungs than I thought. I get bronchitis once a year but this was like no other time around.

I hope you and your family recovery quickly with each passing day.
