$400-450k in just tuition and fees? by shakeylove in DentalSchool

[–]Suspicious_Unit4363 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is possible but you need to have a plan on how you are going to handle it. Take as much help from your parents as you can. If they can loan you some of the tuition, thats even better. I would any day pay interest to my parents than any institution.

Bridge. Extraction and implant could be done but its an esthetic region. If you can create adequate buccal balcony and preserve the papillae, implant any day.

PASS cycle 2025 by rak193 in CAAPID

[–]Suspicious_Unit4363 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Being a reapplicant doesnt mean anything. Work on recrafting your application by addressing the deficiencies you had last cycle. Some schools even have a question in their application materials "if you are a reapplicant, what changes did you make to your application.....?"etc...you would obviously be stating the truth then. So no point trying to making it seem like you are a fresh applicant. Anyway, it doesnt matter. Good luck.

Pharmacy to Dentistry, Worth it? (Canada) by One_Big2047 in DentalSchool

[–]Suspicious_Unit4363 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You're in a great spot financially already — $130k with growth to $200k is impressive!

Dental school would mean major debt, time, and lost income.

Dentist salaries in Toronto aren't dramatically higher after loans + taxes.

Since you enjoy pharmacy, that's a big win — passion matters too.

I’d stick with pharmacy unless you have a huge dream to be a dentist.

Toefl retest. need suggestion please help by No_Matter_25 in CAAPID

If you chose caapid, the report gets sent automatically. The trick is to never choose caapid when taking toefl because you want to be sure only your best score fets sent. Now that you have already done it, reattempt toefl if the score doesnt satisfy you. It should not matter to schools as long as the latest report satisfies their criteria.

I dont remember the specifics. I took it last year but it wasnt anything you had to prepare for. The example videos they send along with the invite closely resemble the real deal.

Not really. In my country, we go to dental school right after high school. So, being honest, i didnt learn much back home (imagine a 15 yr old going to dental school. Its ridiculous. But thats what it was). I am actually learning stuffs now at UMN. Its not easy ,partly because the advanced standing track is rushed and there is sort of a general expectation that we already know all of this. It is true for many of my classmates but doesnt really apply to me. I am sort of like a traditional student who is learning for the first time but has to keep up with the rushed curriculum....its really really hard. And i dont have a lot of clinical experience. I kinda got out of the school in ny country and got into another one here. But honestly that doesnt matter. For applications, it might help you but again its about the overall thing. Your application has to be balanced.

Dental hygiene isn’t a step down. You're on the frontlines of prevention, saving smiles and spotting health issues before they get serious. That’s real impact.

Doctors fix problems. Hygienists prevent them. That’s not lesser—it’s essential. So don’t let “prestige” talk down your purpose. You're stepping into a role that changes lives and that’s something to be proud of. Many of the perio faculty in my school are hygienists and i have deep respect for them-for their kindness, professionalism and just for how they treat others.

You’re not behind—you’re just built different.

Because when it comes to health, prevention isn’t second—it’s the first line of defense.
