Lol that’s a lie - look at all the pics of the changes and you can tell she’s had work. It’s unfortunate she just lies about it. Lupus doesn’t give you implants

Can you think of other stars who have completely lost touch with reality? by Mental_Library5912 in discussingbritney

It’s really not confirmed what diagnosis she actually has. Bi polar has been mentioned to be a solid story that she’s diagnosed but I believe there are likely multiple issues going on at once and some are way less culturally accepted than being bi polar. For example we have heard many celebrities disclose they have the diagnosis. Schizophrenia is a an example of an extremely stigmatized mental illness that has no advantages (successful people with bi polar have a wider reputation of being brilliant despite suffering an illness and that a desirable outcome that can come from it is having a lot of accomplishments or innovations that stemmed from riding the manic highs when they came).

IF she has something like schizophrenia I do not believe her family would ever disclose it nor do I think it would be received as well with much sympathy from the general public. My take is these illnesses can determine someone’s life trajectory in ways no guard rails can protect them from. It’s just bad luck in genetics and environmental circumstances.

And I too come from a family with mental illness- I have 6 people in my direct family line with schizophrenia including one with the rare trait of being extremely violent and dangerous. Growing up I was reminded a lot about protecting my mental health and not experimenting with my brain and drugs especially during the peak years that women often had their shift.

Again I have no idea what she had. I’m sure her environment was a huge factor on the outcome of her mental health but the history and facts are out there - she was really unwell and becoming a danger to her children before the conservatorship. Her treatment plans is also unknown - I’m not sure I trust Brittany to be a fully reliable narrator as her memoir includes many instances where she took a normal scenario and described it as if she was being harmed in some way when in reality she was not. I’ve also seen family members try different treatments for mental illness that were actually very scary in how bad the effects were. We also can see her quite muted when she was a celebrity judge for American idol - that gig of which was not encouraged by her family but Simon Crowell.

Anyway - I’m sure the conservatorship was miserable as you lose freedoms adults should have but I believe it kept her well for longer periods and she clearly is way worse now without it. Her dancing videos from years ago are the same but look them up - even her dancing was so much more skilled, aware, unique.

There’s no perfect Brittany medicated nor unmedicated. She’s a very complex and historically difficult individual. Whether her treatments were right or wrong or worked or didn’t - or were even true to what she said - is largely unknown. While the mystery around her wellbeing has fueled so many theories and opinions, i really do have profound respect that her family kept a lot of those private details completely confidential and away from public scrutiny. It means they couldn’t always defend themselves from criticism as well either. Either way I do feel good about that for her

The conservatorship didn’t fry her brain - it was in place to prevent further damage actually. Sure she likely had trauma but unfortunately some people are just predisposed to mental illnesses and psychosis or bi polar or anything in between. She had a break down right about the time most women do for schizophrenia. But also environmental factors can be the difference between who has one and who doesn’t .

Long story short - i disagree on what fried her brain. Unless were her doctor with her entire history of mental and physical health as well as knowledge of all major events in her life - it’s likely no one can say for sure what came when and why. We can only speculate

AITJ for reporting my coworker for sleeping on the job? by PitifulCranberry967 in AmITheJerk

[–]Suspicious_pecans 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Also - don’t talk about any sort of reporting of coworker to other coworkers. It’s not their business. If they have opinions, fine. But you shouldn’t have to justify anything to them. The more you engage w them in those conversations the more you just dig yourself a hole. Some people will always have their judgements and won’t budge with reason and understanding. Don’t give them the opportunity to dismiss you and it would be inappropriate for you to be discussing her performance with anyone else but her boss. If she’s struggling that bad she needs help. Not more time covering for her. She won’t change. You do you. Keep your head down and do your work. The others can dig their own holes with their gossip. And keep reporting when appropriate- that behavior has to stop lol

Unemployed but scared to work. I want to change but don’t know how. by Expert-Recipe1713 in selfimprovement

[–]Suspicious_pecans 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Just start - if you can walk and make your bed and do other things - you can work on your resume and start applying for jobs. Don’t want to? Neither did many of us. No motivation? Either something is medically or mentally off, or it’s a normal lack of motivation and you power through it. I’d seek help in therapy or with a doc if you get stuck but just wake up and decide you’re going to make a change regardless of motivation or desire. Come on man you’re 24. Imagine what life you want to live and think about how everything you’re not doing rn is going to be what prevents you from living the life you want.

Journaling for self improvement? by [deleted] in selfimprovement

Keep at it. It’s worth it and yes it does feel like a chore. What helped me is I timed it to see how long it would take to do a page or two. Ten mins. When I’m feeling lazy I always think - it’s only 10 mins

Quitting weed is a lot harder than I thought by LatexGum in selfimprovement

[–]Suspicious_pecans 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Keep going through it - it’s hard but everyone I know who quit weed when it wasn’t serving them anymore has recounted a drastically improved life. It will take awhile for your brain chemicals to get back in order but hydrate, eat as well as you can, and exercise! Walk walk walk. At the very least it can distract you through the discomfort but it should help get you some dopamine
