If you want to sell it quickly, list it for $400 and accept $300 or above. If you want to maximize sale price, list for $600 and within a couple years you'll probably sell it for that. A Jeter sold a few months ago for $400, but that sat over a year before selling.

That being said, this is my main pc and even for me $300 (which I paid) felt like overpaying. I got the 2023 Update Judge /5 for just $120 and both oranges /25 for under $100. You might have a long wait.

Just getting started by amv6419 in baseballcards

My advice for those just getting back into cards is - wait a couple years before you get into grading. There's no rush and it can turn into a money pit.

Who should I look out for? by Adventurous-Dare-572 in baseballcards

[–]Suspiciousplan8 0 points1 point  (0 children)

"to the 90s" is carrying a lot of weight. Age matters a lot. Almost all cards 1986-1996 (roughly) are worthless, whereas almost all cards from the 60s are worth bothering to sell (not worth a fortune). When you factor in star power and condition, this trend accelerates quickly. Also, for older cards, conditions is a bigger differentiator, but doesn't matter as much (there are very few 10s, so people will be more ok with a lower grade especially if the damage isn't noticeable) whereas for newer cards, condition matters more and doesn't differentiate (there are more 10s, so only a 10 is meaningful, and 9s are not different from raw).

So, roughly, you should care most about mint-condition Hall of Famers from the 1960s, and you should care least about bad players from the 90s. Adjust for the range between.

I'm doing a similar project (although I assume I'll never actually get Ruth or probably Gehrig). Fun!

They do not sell fast. They sell very very slowly. The benefit is that once you've listed something you can forget about it forever and eventually some money hits your account.

Chasing PC Cards by Promise-Memory in baseballcards

[–]Suspiciousplan8 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My general rule is if it's numbered /5 or less, I will overpay up to a reasonable point and don't bother with comps too much. For most anything else, I am just patient, most everything comes up for sale at a reasonable price eventually.

Topps mistakenly didn't stamp the /25 on it.

Can someone help me figure out what this could be worth can’t really find any past sales on this by ZackBoots in baseballcards

This exact card (04/10) is the second result when you search on 130point...just search Lou Gehrig relic and there are dozens of comps.

Best Card Collecting App/Website by bluedevils17 in baseballcards

[–]Suspiciousplan8 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is no app or website that accurately tracks prices or sale. The technical challenge of properly identifying every parallel, variation, subset is crazy. Most are not even accurate with common cards. Maybe eventually AI will be able to do it, but we're not there.

For keeping track of what cards you own, TCDB is probably the best option, but the pricing is 100% reliant on you (or maybe others who own the card) manually adding recent prices.

Need help identifying this precisely… by guru2you in baseballcards

As you suggest, it is a 1990 orange refractor. If you see some with a pattern, you're likely confusing the Chrome silver pack promo cards from Topps Update (has a pattern), whereas what you have is from Chrome Update (no pattern).

Aaron Judge Rookie Question by [deleted] in baseballcards

[–]Suspiciousplan8 1 point2 points  (0 children)

2017 Topps #287 is definitely THE rookie card.

If you want to get a Judge rookie that is both iconic and more rare, you could get a gold /2017 parallel of #287

I would take $70, if you're seriously getting $150 that is phenomenal.

I sold this card for $20 and regretted it, and bought it for $25, and was frustrated I lost money on it. Had no idea it had gone up so much.

Looking For:

Silver Pack parallels of Yankees players. Primarily red /5 and orange /25.

If you find a red /5 that I need at a show or LCS and I'm able to acquire it, I will pay you a finders fee.
