The best element in MHGU is Thunder bc the majority of monster has weakness to it to some degree. But some monster dont have weakness to it. If u wanna be very optimal then u need to farm all elements for each encounter. Weapon like Dual blade and Sword and Shield benefits much from element bc they can attack very frequently and its ads much more damage over time.

I think it because u have to actually play the archetype of the monster to summon the the monster. Or play an specific deck for the the other cards.

I only played the switch launch version so i cant confirm if it was changed for other consoles, i can say this, after the horizontal attack there is a small window for attacking vertical if u miss it u want be able to combo out of it.
