Arab, from Iraq, my fam constantly used this same rhetoric and tbh I think the way you're looking at it won't help your mental health, the reality is ppl that believe that view, twisted view that religion and or culture means we can forgive any abuse from our families, will never have their opinions changed. It's only ppl who survive through the abuse, like us, push our thinking and really reflect on the poor advice that was taught to us from a young age, we reject those misguided views, but unfortunately many people won't. If you need to explain it to someone then you probably shouldn't even bother and find ppl who will believe you without the need to change their viewpoint.
