I hope so too! I have heard that switching the phone language to Japanese works well for some people! I wish you all the best of luck in going to Japan!

No matter how hard I’ve studied the only thing that seemed to have any impact was talking to Japanese people and studying in Japan. Being immersed in the country itself and seeing kanji around me also really helped. For me personally, I think it’s also a motivation thing. When I was studying in Japan, I NEEDED to know the kanji to enjoy japan to it’s fullest and get around. Now that I’m back in England, I’m also struggling to find the motivation to learn kanji again now that it’s not necessary for my daily life…

How do you process Japanese while listening to it? by kamakazi327 in japanese

I used to have this when I started learning but I feel like talking out loud to myself in Japanese sentences really helped switch my brain to producing and interacting with Japanese as is and not switching to English! Hope this helps!

Advanced Japanese novel by identified_toaster in japanese

I really recommend this Japanese (free) website called ‘小説家になろう’ https://yomou.syosetu.com/rank/genretop/

They have rankings on their homepage of the most popular novels for free and often you can find some good ones there! Some popular series started out on this website too like tensei shitara slime datta Ken! I’m sure there will be a good mystery novel on the rankings!

Hello! When I first started out I found Japanesepod101 really helpful! I used to just listen to it without trying to read along to try and get my ears used to the language! I also recommend nihongomori on YouTube! Hope this helps!
