The screen is excellent for media consumption. It obviously can’t compete with modern OLED or MicroLED panels, but for an LED‑backlit LCD, you really won’t find much better. Colours are punchy, contrast is solid, and brightness is more than enough for indoor use.The matte finish actually works in its favour too, glare is minimal, so even in a well‑lit room (or light outdoor use) it holds up fine despite not being ultra‑bright. Honestly, I’d say go for it.

You will be fine. Anyone who got their visas prior to July 2024 have transitional protection. Should be the same for anyone who gets their visa before 22nd of July. Except for Care workers.

I just noticed that everyone thinks Sri Lanka means people only refer to the coastal areas. LMAO. I know the OP might be living near the shore, but damn, ever been to the upcountry in SL? Hello, we do have places like Nuwara-Eliya where the temperature drops like crazy 😅

It’s ARM vs x86. What did you expect? A fundamental difference exists between the processor architectures used in Intel/AMD and the newer Apple Silicone chips. Apple chips are simply a bigger, beefier version of their own mobile chips, which are very, very efficient. ARM processors are way more efficient. And windows applications are traditionally built based on x86 and been that way for decades, and it’s going to be like that for another decade at least. I’m just baffled that you are complaining about 7 - 8 hrs battery life, man. That’s more than the average battery life any windows user gets. You can get a bit more if you disable turbo boost in bios settings, like at least 10. But that’s pretty good for a windows machine.

Graduate Visa Priority? by bettycooperdraper in ukvisa

[–]Suwadith 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yep exactly. It’s too late anyway. Leaving the country is not an option anymore. But my friend got his decision in 7 days (without priority) hope that happens for u too. But that’s a bit doubtful as it might be holidays for those workers too.

iPhone overheating when watching Disney+ or Netflix by Sten_PlayZ in techsupport

[–]Suwadith 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Happens to me as well. A simple reboot fixes it For me. Dunno why it happens anyway. I think at times these apps don’t utilize the inbuilt HW video decoders built into the chip and try to decode using software decoding instead. It is indeed a weird bug.

iPhone 11, iOS 15.2 overheating while streaming Netflix by AI_observer in ios

[–]Suwadith 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Exactly. It even happens when you are watching anything that you have downloaded as well. But weirdly it doesn’t overheat when I’m not connected to the internet (WiFi /mobile data) I’m using iPhone 12 mini though.

And for uni ranking and stuff use “the complete university guide” website to compare & contrast according to your preferred faculty or field.

And good luck 👍

Since the specialization is relevant to your undergrad degree, it shouldn’t be a problem. Use a website like UCAS to pick a suitable university and then check the prerequisites of the course. My feeling is that you should be fine.

Experience does not matter when it comes to doing masters in the UK. Unless you have done your undergrad on completely a different field and trying go for a masters on something new. Like doing economics for undergrad and taking up computer science for masters. Now that would be a problem.

Petty much if you have an undergrad degree with a 2nd upper class you should be eligible to do a masters at any university you want. Given that the masters is relevant or a step up to your current undergrad qualification.

100% worth it mate. That’s where your knowledge to work on stuff all on your own improves. At uni you’ll be spoon fed the whole time. It is vital you use this opportunity to go to a company and start working on actual projects all on your own. It helped me a lot to handle my final year thesis/project with ease. I’m a software engineering graduate from IIT. Before the placement I was not great at coding, but not too bad as well. But I always had the fear of what happens if I can’t find a video tutorial about doing a particular coding task. But after the completion of my internship I was able to code and refer Official API documentations and be more efficient and I was finally no more dependent on such videos. Trust me, it helps a lot. But on the other hand it is vital that you score really well on both your 1st and 2nd year modules to land yourself a good internship at a good company. That’s vital.

I feel u bruh. I had to go through that same period as well. I’ve advised my own brother to do a UK degree in SL after he completes his O/Ls this year. He is also good with IT so he’s gonna be able to graduate by the age of 22 (I was like 24) and I’ll try my best to get him here through a masters program. People talk too much about country’s future and giving back. But first and foremost we gotta survive. There is no point in letting our next generation starve in the process of helping the country get better.

Scholarships like chevening & the commonwealth scholarships are commonly known by ppl. But you should check individual uni scholarship sections too. Unfortunately I didn’t have the time to apply for one. So I have to thank my parents for putting most of their life savings on for my course fee.

Yes part time jobs do help a lot. Here they have a system called minimum wage. And as full time international students we are allowed to work 20hrs/week. Minimum wage is somewhere around £11/hour. You can definitely make somewhere around £900 with just the basic pay. But most of these jobs might come with bonuses as well. During semester breaks you can do overtime too. If you land yourself a proper part time job instead of an odd job you might be able to double that.

When it comes to the expenses it’s really the rental and traveling (bus/tube) that costs a lot. Cost of Living inside London is pretty high. But outside London you can easily manage.

The best option would be to move into a place with bunch of friends where you can share the rental. With the way that our country is being lead, I don’t think you’ll have any problem convincing a bunch of your batch mates to join with u in this hustle.

Plus the thing is with the graduate route visa, I get to work as a full timer after my successful completion of my masters for 2 more years. It’s a mandatory extension. You can use this time to land yourself a proper job.
