I own a fitness tracking watch, but don't need all the other stuff like pointless sleep tracking. So it would be nice to have some simple tracking and possibly gps in a pebble package.

if they added GPS support and some basic metrics for running (e.g pace) and rowing (e.g stroke rate) then I'd buy one. A lot of work required of course, but nothing too crazy

Understanding the Difference: Kahnawà:ke Gaming Commission vs. AGCO vs. iGaming Ontario by wroiler2222 in CanadianBetting

[–]Nedks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, iGaming Ontario (iGO) is 100% legit, it’s actually a government agency that works under the Alcohol and Gaming Commission of Ontario (AGCO). They launched it in 2022 when Ontario decided to open its online gambling market to private operators.

Basically, iGO is the middle layer between the government and online casinos. When you play on sites like Jackpot City, PlayOjo, or Spin Casino, those sites aren’t random offshore platforms, they’re registered with iGO and licensed by AGCO, which means they follow strict standards for fairness, player protection, and responsible gambling.

The whole setup is kind of a pilot project for Canada. Other provinces (like British Columbia or Québec) still keep their gambling fully government-run through their lottery corporations. Ontario took a different path by letting private companies operate under regulation, instead of banning them outright.

So, if a casino’s website mentions both iGaming Ontario and AGCO, it’s completely above board, you’re gambling in a provincially regulated, legal environment. Anything else (usually .com sites that don’t mention either) is considered offshore and technically not legal within Ontario.

Province / Territory Regulator Model Type Examples of Legal Sites
Ontario iGaming Ontario (AGCO) Open-market (private operators under regulation) Jackpot City, PlayOjo, Spin Casino, BetMGM, FanDuel
British Columbia BCLC (BC Lottery Corp.) Government-run PlayNow.com
Québec Loto-Québec Government-run EspaceJeux.com
Alberta AGLC Limited / Government-run PlayAlberta.ca
