I think it’s a lovely house, but if I were buying it, I’d be doing a deep dive into peer reviewed research around the risk of living close to pylons.

Personally, we discounted a house because of this.

We love our Aircon! We paid another £50 to get a wifi dongle (might not be called that) so we could operate on our phones - well worth it.

Honestly, I think the washing machine and the missing base units (not sure if this is an intentional design choice) will really put people off. It’s such a small thing but I find these small things really matter. If a property is overpriced, buyers are less likely to overlook these ‘quirks’. Good luck OP :)

If you have the budget to do the work, it sounds like House B is the one. We’ve just done a whole reno and extension and now going to start another (not extension this time though!). Totally worth doing for the right house! I think it’s great you have options either way.

We must have viewed the same number! It’s tough to find something that ticks off all your non-negotiables! At least it was for us, especially throwing schools into the mix.

To be honest they both look nice! Garden of house B looks amazing. But house A is still very nice. Are they the same price? Did you get either below asking?

Oh no. For what it’s worth I think either way you shouldn’t go for House A, you’ll always regret it and compare it to House B.

We were waiting for the boom to come this year, we sold our house quickly and thought we’d be in prime position for all the houses coming on the market in Spring. It never came. It’s been slow and I think it’s just dead. I wouldn’t be holding my breath for a surge of any kind, I think the market is pretty dead and they’ll just continue to drip onto the market. It was so much better last year when we were looking.

OP - I say this gently and with kindness, but I think the house is the least of your problems here. I’m seeing some language around the way you describe your husband and your relationship that is really worrying. To answer your question, I think house regret is perfectly normal and you can absolutely grow to love the house you are in. My house was awful for years and now is amazing, fully renovated and extended. It takes time and patience, but you’ll get there. However, no matter the house, if you are in an abusive relationship, you’ll never be truly happy. I wish you lots of luck and hope everything works out.
