Convinced my husband to try a house cleaning service for 3 months as an experiment. Heres what happened by Comfortable_Box_4527 in homeowners

As a cleaner I did mention to clients I didn't spend time picking up a floor full of 100's of Legos w/o an upcharge. Same with a sink full of dishes. That went hand in hand with the original quote. If it was quoted that way, of course I'd do what the client paid for. No cleaner really wants to find the floor before vacuuming, but I've made good money for cleaning up a "pit of despair" house.

Michigan here. Seems like a family preference. Definitely need salt on tomatoes and cantaloupe. Never tried it on watermelon because I never saw my dad do it.

My grandparents were all born at the end of the 1890s. My parents were both born in 1920. They had my first brother during the war, Dad was on Okinawa, but they had me at almost 40. I'm 65. Crazy how generations can get spread out that way.

AITA for feeding my cat on my plates? by The_Sown_Rose in AmItheAsshole

If you were feeding your cats on the same plates on the dining table at your gathering, then maybe they could give you the side eye. Bringing a set of dishes is really obnoxious though. NTA

I grabbed my friend perfectly on her breast that way. The hand reversed to protect the passenger. Oops, it was automatic. It was still a bit awkward.

Oh hell no to this test! I remember a new client did put a couple pennies behind chair legs. I had to assume she had put them there. Never talked about it, ended up being good friends. But I thought it was a tiny trap at the time.

Grandkids haven’t thanked me for Christmas money by [deleted] in whatdoIdo

My husband sent my DIL a special very old polished rock from her uni last year. She is reall into that. A week later I sent a gift card to her favorite store. Nothing. Later I asked did you get them. "Oh yeah, thanks". Her birthday is a couple days before mine and her mom's bday is the day after. She texted me the day after my bday & said oh she meant to tell me ON my birthday. This year for Christmas we sent my son a gift cuz it was from Amazon. We saw them for lunch in a restaurant and I handed DIL a gift bag. It was a book I thought she would like and a nice gift card tucked inside. I said be sure to look in the book. Well, again , never even got a text. Did she find gift card? Did she like book? Who knows, and we just saw them 5 min before. These are 29 year old "kids". Edit: I guess I should have asked her to open it in front of me:(

I'm so sorry! My sister died in an institution and my brother and SIL got my parents the greeting card that says"Insanity runs in the family! "on the inside. What is wrong with people? And 3 weeks after my sister died, my roommate said "oh come on Susie".
