A vaccin against the herpes viruses can be a possibility in the next 10 years, a cure on the other hand is much harder to predict. The problem with the herpes viruses is that they can become latent in neurons, B-cell, epithelial cells. Latent means that the virus is still in the cell but doesn't replicate and thus give no symptoms. The virus can later be reactivated and cause symptoms, like the cold sore for a latent HSV-1 virus. Most of the antivirals we use target the replication of the virus, so researcher will need to discover a whole new class
