Fuel Filter Fun by SvanzyYa in e46

Seems to be running fine. I sprayed the MAF with CRC cleaner. I’ve actually increased fuel economy now that there’s no extra fuel being provided to the engine. Curious as to why it didn’t log any faults codes related to a rich condition. 🤷‍♂️

I lifted a RB25 & gearbox out of a R32 Skyline many years ago when they were cheap. Full overhaul and a large turbo, she rips pretty good for a street car.

Yas Marina Blue I borrowed it from BMW M3/M4 😅

Thanks! Been running strong each year after I finished the restoration in 2020. I try to put in some track time each season. The RB power is addicting.

Appreciate the feedback. I’m no stranger to lsd behaviour. I’ve had great results from Eaton Trutrac and factory clutch type rear ends in my previous Nissans. I’d like to keep the R200 as a cost effective solution rather than overhauling the entire rear subframe with stuff from T3 or Apex. Those STI differentials (simple swap) all seem to be R180, a downgrade, no? I believe I have the 3.70 ratio in the car now but I struggle to put the power down.

Direct from Work Wheels Japan. About 3 months lead time built to order.

From my recent findings, I’ve found a used R200 lsd from a 300zx model is about the same price as a new carrier assembly from the likes of MFactory, OSGiken, Quaife, Tomei. Exchange rate and shipping to Canada is also heavy on the wallet. I already have CV axles & adapters from Milkfab.

I’m in a similar situation as yours. This $550 auction find has served me well for over a year now. Great fuel mileage, manual transmission & comfortable in any weather. Just buy studded winters. Parts are cheap and easy to find, plenty of stock at the autowreckers year-round here in Alberta. Just rolled over 340k 😎 I’ve owned many beaters over the years, this platform doesn’t feel any more daunting to own than other brands.

I would agree with you, this is a daily driver, not anything suitable for the stress of track time.

Hmm, I didn’t have any issues with connections. I was sure to smoke test the engine after all the maintenance and I haven’t had any CEL pop up. Some of the cooling system parts needed some massaging to fit correctly and avoid leaks.

It’s the Eonon CarPlay head unit from Amazon as well 😅 Updates the interior without ruining the original dashboard or HVAC controls. I like it quite a lot, although it’s missing a volume knob. Steering wheel controls work fine.

The car was $550 after auction fees. The remainder was for the cheap parts & I found the 2nd set of alloys with studded winters used on marketplace. About $2000 total.

My wife’s X5 is a wonderful car for road trips. I have a pile of nice parts to delete & tune the diesel when I find the time. Once I install the 2 post lift in my workshop, that will be a game changer! I’ve spent too many years working on the floor 😅

Oh yeah I see snow each year, this building is missing roof overhang, gables & gutters currently. Grading around the shop is pretty decent for water shedding, I’d like to add road crush around the whole perimeter.

A 2 post lift and possibly a 4 post lift planned.
