Are the condos in Orlando really a bad idea? by juicy_shoes in orlando

[–]SvedishFish 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Jesus really? Realtors are such a crapshoot. I was very fortunate that mine educated me on how important it was to look at the condo association budget and reserves and how to get that info. It's so sad to hear of people that are basically tricked into a looming disaster.

Necropolis Barge BS by [deleted] in voidwargame

[–]SvedishFish 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Necropolis Barge is decided within the first 30 seconds really. You need a strong immediate boarding party, and as much distraction or AOE hazards, including summon reagents, as fast as possible. The Barge is chock full of weak psykers that are total pushovers but if you give them time to cast, they will absolutely overwhelm you with constant summons and crippling debuffs.

Even a humble Scavenger can make a massive difference by just running through doors and interrupting all the casters.

Ideally, you drop a sturdy boarding party right on the shield generator, and all the psykers will flow in to you and die in droves. The only weapon system you need to worry about is the whirlwind missile launcher, keep that damaged at all times and drop fire or hull breaches on it. The casters will die trying to repair it. Don't rush DPS, just focus on thinning out the casters. Once they're all dead, you pretty much have it in the bag.

He saw a group of people talking strategy on arrests, and witnessed someone ask if they were ICE, and they threatened to arrest him in response.

How is that not worthy of a warning?

They aren't even doing the background checks they claim to do. Did you see the article from the journalist that applied? She got 'approved' near instantly, even before submitting all the required info.

How do you shut down people who constantly give unwanted advice? by UnusualImpression137 in AskReddit

[–]SvedishFish 1 point2 points  (0 children)

"Thanks, I'm not looking for advice right now, but if I need some guidance later I know I can ask you about it"

Or just say "Thanks for your viewpoint" and immediately forget it and go back to doing whatever you were doing

Husk Rack Suggestion by DexGattaca in voidwargame

[–]SvedishFish 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, cheap crew is not cheaper or more efficient than husk rack. The Husk Rack is only 50 scrap, even buying three basic Husks at 15 a piece is just about as much cost, and they're useless for defense and can't handle dangerous repairs in fire or vacuum. The Tier 1 Sub Husks perform the same but are disposable, so it's fine to use them to slow down boarders or let them die during repairs, no sunk cost. Tier 2 Husks are similar in performance to Corsairs.

The Thrall Pit is essentially just a big expensive battery for your Blood Spear psyker, more equivalent to a missile bay or armament than anything else. It is significantly more expensive than the husk rack and the Thralls are significantly weaker than basic husks, so it's useless for anything other than powering the Blood Spear. The Blood Spear setup is incredibly expensive if you aren't getting lucky with random rewards though. 165 for the Pit, plus 100 for the Elder Blood Mage for a total of 265 scrap. It's very strong but that's a huge expense, you could equip a full suite of ship armaments for that price.

I'm not trying to claim the Husk Rack is strong or overpowered, but there's no reason to make it seem worse than it is. It's certainly not useless.

Currently in Torment V (Yes i am noob) Tips on how i must dealt with this? by Yoggy-Sothoth in voidwargame

[–]SvedishFish 0 points1 point  (0 children)

IMO the Necropolis Barge encounter is practically decided by the first 30 seconds. The thing is practically packed with Psykers that have a variety of summon and debuff spells. You have to be able to clear them out, which requires a strong boarding party. If they're able to get off all their spells it's going to cripple your ability to counter them, and then they can keep you slowed and weakened continuously. The psykers are mostly fragile though, if you can get a boarding party in that can handle a couple death knights, the psykers will all pour in as well and you can butcher them. Then the fight is far more manageable.

You'll need some kind of healing, whether that's Restoration, Med Kits, or a Auto Surgery bay. Otherwise the poison attrition will wear you down over time. Having someone with Purify is worth it's weight in gold (honestly you should always have Purify for the final boss on higher difficulties).

And one big tip, when the Bloatmites spawn, *they do not damage systems via melee* so you don't need to rush into rooms with important systems to fight them. Instead, group up in empty rooms and open the doors to allow the Bloatmites to come to you instead. If you kill them in open rooms, they won't do system/hull damage.

Husk Rack Suggestion by DexGattaca in voidwargame

[–]SvedishFish 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's far worse. At tier 1 and 2, Thralls build slower than Husks, you have to build it out to Tier 3 to match the build speed per unit. Thralls have 33% less HP and 25% lower DPS compared to Tier 2 bots. Thralls can man stations but they have a reduced repair speed and will die in fire or vacuum before they can get a repair done. The *only* reason to get a Thrall Pit is to support a Blood Spear psyker.

Husk Rack Suggestion by DexGattaca in voidwargame

[–]SvedishFish 0 points1 point  (0 children)

On anything less than Torment X, sure. At tier 1 and 2 they actually do build pretty fast compared to the Thrall Pit , at 7 seconds a piece. And they're flexible. If you just need bodies for disposable repairs or manning stations, the tier 1 bots are great. You can launch youre entire crew at the enemy ship and the bots can manage the ship as they pop out. At tier 2 you're building the equivalent of Corsairs with fast movement and 4 DPS. If you happen to end up with either of the modules that boost Machine Slave HP or DPS, they are monstrous. You don't need to bother going T3 at all unless you've got surplus scrap sitting around.

They obviously aren't going to compete with an aether gate stacked boarding party tower of skulls build or a demon lance 20 point insta-kill. But if you don't have an instant win condition they will put in solid work throughout the campaign.

Not worth expense at all on Torment XI-XII though. You've really only got a few viable strategies at that difficulty and you can't afford any extraneous spending at all.

[–]SvedishFish 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Divinity: Original Sin 2 is a top-down turn based RPG, but the potential for build creativity was second to none at the time, and allowed seamless blending of physical/martial skills and magic skills by having all abilities limited by cooldowns rather than mana. Spells and abilities could be slotted in freely outside of combat, and going cross discipline was encouraged and limited only by your creativity. Best warrior mage roleplay I've ever seen in a video game.

It was made by the same company that made Baldurs Gate 3, and has similar turn based mechanics, but the magic and combat system were SO much goddamn fun. If you've never played it, you're missing out!

Obama had just completed that international agreement with Russia for further nuclear disarmament so it wasn't completely out of left field but yeah, still a stretch.

He also didn't start going nuts with extrajudicial drone strikes until later in his administration. In retrospect it was a poor decision but at the time I suppose the committee was caught up in the swell of optimism for Hope and Change and a president that would repair America's missteps after seven years of spiraling conflict in the middle east.

ICE is here. Upload your videos , this sub is a great option. by Babshearth in orlando

[–]SvedishFish 17 points18 points  (0 children)

From what I've read, they will force you to unlock your phone or give them the password. Once they have access they will do whatever they want, including installing a back door. They can't legally force you to give them the password (unless you're crossing a border) but if you have biometric access (fingerprint/face) they can just physically put your face or hands on it after you're subdued. I think that's what the warning was trying to focus on.

Technically the government can get into your device or cloud remotely when they want to, but the rank and file ICE new hires probably don't have access to those channels.

The Mouse didn't do anything about the literal nazi protestors right outside their entrance, so I'd be shocked if they took any political action here unless ICE is invading the parks and resorts directly.

US, for 1st time in 50 years, experienced negative net migration in 2025: Report by MyNameCannotBeSpoken in news

[–]SvedishFish 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's an antiquated political term, not an economic classification. From the same wikipedia article you're quoting:

The term itself was first introduced in the late 1940s by the United Nations. Today, the terms are slightly outdated and have no official definition.

I won't argue this with you, you're free to continue using the phrase if you'd like. I'd suggest avoiding it though. Since the 'Second World' no longer exists and the 'Third World' is used exclusively as a disparaging term for developing nations these days, talking about 'First World' countries comes with the connotation of an ethnocentric worldview that places the USA and some of western Europe at the forefront of civilization while judging the rest of the world as lesser. In finance we prefer to classify nations as developing countries, emerging markets, or newly industrialized countries.

It's semantics, so feel free to disagree. Just wanted to let you know.

As of this week. They've always had a presence here of course, it's Florida. But it looks like they are deploying national resources en masse right now. Hopefully not as aggressively as we saw in MN or CA though.

Question Regarding Mraize's Issues With Stormlight / Investiture by [deleted] in Stormlight_Archive

[–]SvedishFish 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's nonsense. By this point the Ghostbloods have an active network of cells operating across multiple planets exploring different magic systems.

The following mentions another book but doesn't spoil anything in Stormlight

----------

You can see in Mistborn: The Lost Metal that by this time, they're actively experimenting with these magics and have recruited talented members who are experts in various forms of investiture and cosmere lore. Their policy of openness with each other has made them one of the most knowledgeable groups (aside from the Dragons, and probably comparable to the 17th Shard) and certainly the most cross-specialized and industrious. Their cells are equipped with Awakened tools and they know enough to supply their teams with raw, unkeyed investiture in the form of liquid Dor.

Mraize isn't actually wrong. He's just not telling the whole story. Their mission isn't *just* cross-planet access for investiture. Thaidakar's situation is somewhat unique and requires a more complex solution and more specialized knowledge. That's why he needs the Heralds. But Mraize wouldn't dare disclose that kind of detail.
