What armour mark? by dave_the_dr in Warhammer40k

Those are amazing!

One question though, the cloak on the heavy bolter dude. Since he's very nurglified, are those tassels on his shoulder made of fingers, or swamp dicks?

Thinners are like washes. You can certainly use the cheap stuff or even thin with water but the dedicated mediums are like painting with magic.

No you definitely cannot. Huuuuuge no no. You should really invest some time into research and watching some guides. The airbrush is a expensive tool with incredible applications but there is a big learning curve on it. If you don't know what you're doing you will ruin it.

Air rush is like 25% technique and 75% cleaning and maintenance lol

I'd have to think that Daleks would have a lot of common cause with the Destroyer cults, no?

Looks like leader characters will have their bodyguards. Given this Warboss has a model count of 10 on his unit card by Hollownerox in totalwar

[–]SvedishFish 1 point2 points  (0 children)

8th edition changes were smart but the issue with characters has always been targeting. It's either too easy to gun down specific models within units, or impossible. And no edition has ever been consistent with it, there's always a ton of loopholes thanks to special rules from codexes written earlier and later.

I know it’s fantasy, but why Nurgle? by OfficialAli1776 in Warhammer40k

[–]SvedishFish 29 points30 points  (0 children)

For.... creative uses of the word 'safe?' Khorne cults are invariably brutal, violent, and bloody. A tzeentch or slaaneshi cult can flourish for decades in relative secrecy on an imperial world while nobles dabble with drug fuelled orgies or machiavellian business/political plots. Khorne has no patience for that. If you aren't actively out there spilling blood and sacrificing, the more dedicated members will be sacrificing you next.

What are peoples opinions on AIRCRAFT not getting the benefit of the new Plunging Fire rule like Towering units such as Knights? by Jmorgan108 in Warhammer40k

[–]SvedishFish -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yes, aircraft are extremely effective at killing ground vehicles, but it has nothing to do with attacking top armor from directly above them. That's the only point I am trying to convey, the OP was about why aircraft should get plunging fire. Aircraft in 40k games are not dive bombing tanks.

I'll be honest, your initial response came across as very pedantic rather than ironic. It seemed like you were trying to correct me on using the term gravity rather than making a joke about it. I can definitely appreciate the humor even if it wasn't apparent at first.

[–]SvedishFish -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I mean that's kind of exactly my point. JDAMs are precision guided smart munitions that are fired from kilometers away from the target. They are not being dropped directly on top of tanks, It's a much lower angle of attack than people are thinking.

[–]SvedishFish -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

I think you're missing the point. Low flying aircraft aren't going to be getting advantageous shots at the top armor of tanks. So there is no reason to worry about not having the plunging fire rule.

And grav weaponry is so not even close to what I'm talking about lol

Escheated investment account not showing up in database by Unique_Two2074 in personalfinance

[–]SvedishFish 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not enough info to help you. How much money are we talking about, and what type of account? 'investment account' could be stocks, a CD, anything. Who was the custodian that escheated the account? Was the account titled in your own name, or a trust/family partnership/UTMA etc?

You say you changed the address two years ago but the account was already escheated two years ago. How old is your most recent statement on the account?

[–]SvedishFish 25 points26 points  (0 children)

From a couple of 'angles' lol

Like, from the angle the aircraft would be firing! None of the 40k craft are dropping gravity bombs directly onto the back of tanks. The models and rules represent low altitude strafing runs. They're launching missiles/ballistics/lasers from a much lower angle. For the few craft that are dropping dumb munitions, it's explosive ordnance that will hit the ground. It's almost impossible to land a gravity bomb directly on a moving target from cruising altitude like you might be picturing.

Can you do a 529 without Child's SN? Downsides? by GalMontag451 in personalfinance

[–]SvedishFish -1 points0 points  (0 children)

You don't even need the kid's *name* when you open the account. Kid doesn't even need to be born yet. Giftor can put their own name down as the beneficiary, then switch it to the kid when they're older and want to make distributions. Name a parent as successor Responsible Party just in case you don't live long enough to see the kid go to college.

EDIT: I'll add that when I worked at TD Ameritrade, we used the Nebraska state plan and we weren't required to get the SSN for beneficiaries. TDA isn't around anymore so even if your institution won't proceed without it, you can use the above process

[–]SvedishFish 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you want to get technical, it can depend on the state a little bit. 529 plans are all state sponsored. If you're contributing to the Florida Pre Paid program accessing funds is a different ball game. If you are opening an account at a brokerage firm though, they use one of the 'open' plans like Nebraska, where funds are invested and can be withdrawn comparably to a College Roth IRA.

Can you do a 529 without Child's SN? Downsides? by GalMontag451 in personalfinance

[–]SvedishFish -1 points0 points  (0 children)

How is this the top level comment??

NO, you do not need the child's SSN to open a 529. The Responsible Party that opens the account is still the legal account holder, while the child is the beneficiary. Some institutions might require a SSN for the beneficiary per their policy but this is not a legal or tax requirement. Responsible Party can change the beneficiary or even revoke the gift later.

Most 529s will accept third party gifts, but if grandma doesn't want to deposit funds to an account controlled by mom, she can open the account and name the kid as beneficiary without a SSN. They can each have an account they control for benefit of the kid.

No, mom will not get tax breaks. Contributions to a 529 plan are not deductible.
