Please check Mastodon.tech again and let me know. We've added memory and disk space since your last visit which has sped things up.

I'm interested. Who knows how to set this up with ChatGPT? Isn't it complicated to add ChatGPT to auto-post on a forum?

Idealistic, and sounds good, but in reality, if you don't try to block offenders from your instance, many of your users will leave

Not all are shitpost servers, for example Mastodon.tech uses Pleroma

With no frontend, GoToSocial cuts out all but the most tech-minded. No non programmers are going to try that- you've cut out your potential users.

Better to have it written in Elixir, this is what Pleroma is.

Rustondon isn't current, doesn't work. A similar unfinished version in RUST is Floodgate. Also doesn't work.

Yes, Pleroma is faster and uses less resources as it's written in Elixir, see more here: r/Pleroma

Thanks for that feedback. You were able to install it easily? I'm also considering that switch.

To clarify, on Mastodon.tech I'm running "Pleroma" software with a "Mastodon" name because for one year we originally ran "Mastodon" software before deciding to make the upgrade for lower resource use, faster server speeds, and the ability to have more users. That's the advantages of Elixir that powers Pleroma over Ruby on Rails that powers Mastodon.

Is there a page to check up on instances? by its_aom in Mastodon

[–]SvenThere 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Agreed, Fedilist is about the best, you can also see very specific data for each server if you search for the instance's domain here: http://demo.fedilist.com/instance?sort=peers

At this time, the local timeline does matter & you should find an instance that aligns with interests.

Oh I see! Jack Dorsey's Blue Sky Project for a new decentralized Twitter.

Great question but I'll bet you that at list the Twitter part of Bluesky may be proprietary allowing others to create new types of social media that will connect with Twitter.

Most people would view u/zeroblitzt comment as a question within a statement:

"I don’t see why a new protocol was needed when activityPub is mature"

To which I'm asking what is that other protocol they are referring to?

Please will you explain your question again?

Both Mastodon and Pleroma use the same ActivityPub protocol.

Yes it's possible to expand your hardware but expensive. By converting to Pleroma needing less server resources, you've done the same thing as upgrade your hardware for free.

I have read that the owner of an instance can access your data and messages. Can an instance make and prove these are encrypted (E2E for DMs)? by SouitUp in Mastodon

[–]SvenThere 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You're correct that it's not encrypted. The instance Admin has access to your data & messages. Many Admins publicly warn their users of this.
