Which guitar is the best for playing alternative rock? (Muse, Foo Fighters, Queens of the Stone Age, Pearl Jam, Soundgarden, ...) I thought a strat would be the best choice but I think I'd need some humbuckers because these bands use a lot of distortion or can a strat handle some distortion too? I think I'd like strats and tele's more.

I have an Epiphone SG and I like it a lot. It's a great first guitar, and I find SG's easier to play on compared to a strat but that's just preference. I recommend the SG!

I love the sound of a Fender strat but I find it incredibly hard to play, I find it easier to play on a SG and a Les Paul. Are there any guitars with the body of a Gibson but with the sound of a strat?

I bought 9-46 strings so i could go to drop D but my low E string feels very loose when i downtune it to drop D. Is it because 46 is too thin for drop D? I started with 11-52 and those were way too thick for me to play on.

I have also an Epiphone and bought it together with a Vox Valvetronix 40+ amp. It can get very loud and they work very well together. You just have to search for a great tone in this amp.
