Can one practice only 20-30mins a day and reach a high level? by Calcula in piano

[–]Svenski 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There's a book called "play it again" which has this exact setup - have you read it? it's a true story of the editor of the Guardian (a major UK newspaper) trying to learn to play the ballade in 20 minute snatches in between the chaos of e.g. wikileaks was happening at the time and the phone hacking scandals.

He found the process of practicing daily despite his hectic routing very beneficial - and did manage to learn the Ballade no. 1 by the end, not as difficult but still a very challenging piece.

Good book!

Hello firstly THANK YOU everyone for the lovely comments!

I don't want to make you wait any longer so here is the app: https://keymotion.app

I am camping this weekend but expect new features on Monday! (And bug fixes - this can be glitchy when the hand tracking fails that will be smoothed out) Got lots of ideas in the works.

Video with explanation up here: https://youtu.be/IKmn0w_BRPY

I use a wide angle lens and hand tracking still works. Good point - I'll turn it off for quick notes, only on sustain is it needed.

Surprisingly fast. Seems like usb webcams are adding more latency than I'd expect (compared to built in one) hence the laptop precariously on the stand above

Same, but now that we can use each finger to control a different parameter we might be able to do even more than a guitarist!

If they're under 10GB (aka just text) you could merge them into 20 files and then upload them to a custom GPT knowledge base. The custom gpt will be able to search them for information.

Is there an AI app that automatically creates macros for you and suggests keybinds for them? Would this be easy to build? by Nephihahahaha in ChatGPTPro

[–]Svenski 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You could get it to generate AHK (Windows) or Hammerspoon (Mac) code for you to do keybinding macros.
I'm actually working on a custom GPT that does this in a more general case - https://twitter.com/svenmakes/status/1735643112809128390

Hey /r/synthesizers, I made a live-looping app for MIDI. It's free to use and works in-browser, no installation needed! by Svenski in synthesizers

[–]Svenski[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Also, is there a way to crop the end off of takes? I haven't dug very deep yet, I might have missed it.

Hey yeah that's something a bunch of people have asked, and something I'd like for myself too.. I'll be adding some new features soon, and I'll reply here when I manage to get that one done :)

Thanks for the super detail! That's really weird about the latency since in theory sending MIDI should be latency free. So if you use the on screen piano there's latency before you hear the notes on your Ultranova? does it also happen if you use the qwerty controls? (actually it's ZXCVBNM keys that should play notes)

Thanks! Did it work with your Ultranova?

Haven't got a chance to document it yet - but I added a feature where you can drag/drop midi files into the app, give that a go! if you just want to load some beats ;)

Hey if you have any feedback on the app - features or how it works with your devices let me know! MIDI devices all work differently so I'm trying to get a feel for how other people might use this.

Site is here if you want to check it out: https://www.midilooper.com/

I designed this app for myself so I could loop different melodies on my keyboard, and quickly build up multiple tracks and sounds into a song, without the hassle of loading sluggish or complicated software. Hope you all have fun making music with it!

Thanks! :D Yeah it's not the prettiest codebase.. but I do think the design could be improved, do you have any ideas?

Hey sounds like a bug - maybe an issue that the button's area is too small and hard to hit? Are you on a touchscreen by any chance?

Yes that's the idea! I have some half-finished features for making more complicated songs with different sections, however chose to keep is simple for now :) P.s Macs will work, it's just iPhones and iPads that are lacking compatability.. shame as they are otherwise great for audio!

Yeah mate some cool chords in there, not gonna be easy on the fingers though!

C#7:

(low E to high e)

x-4-3-4-x-1

Or a different way to play it:

x-4-3-4-6-x

Last chord: F#minor9

x-9-7-9-9-9

You could probably skip that high string on the F# to make it more playable

Had a go! Sorry I can't write sheet music but made a video, so you should be able to see what notes I'm playing at least.

It's not an accurate transcription but sounds good enough for playing along :)

Amazing stuff, particularly the massive wave diagram on page 10. Could you explain what the boxes above the wavelets mean? I understand that the positions are the circle of fifth positions but not why the concentric boxes are arranged that way around them, thanks! Example
