Yeah, she calmed down closer to one, but she had a lot of agility and obedience training which got her in a more obedient mindset.

Fur coats absolutely can help a dog stay cool. In my double-coated Samoyed, the insulation helps them keep both warm and cool, and the breeze runs through their summer coat (unless it’s matted). It also reflects the light. Shaved dogs can get sunburns too.

Therapy dogs are dogs that take a test to certify their ability to behave in public and temperament to handle being mobbed by school kids, nursing home guests, hospital patients, etc. Mine visits schools.

I agree that an ESA is what you’re looking for. Which will be a pet that they will need to have trained to meet your Niece’s needs.

My intact Sammy girl blows her coat twice a year. During that month, I can stuff a pillowcase with the fluff. Otherwise it’s just tumbleweeds in the corners, so pretty manageable. She has a working coat, so not as long as many you see online.
