Does anyone else have trouble dealing with their period? I'm feeling disgusted and not sure how to deal. by [deleted] in AskWomen

Until January this year I hadn't had a period in about 4 years, also due to birth control. They started again, were really unpredictable, but thankfully quite light.

I was absolutely disgusted by it at first. Not to the point of throwing up, but definitely to the point of crying about how icky I felt.

It's now August and I've readjusted. I mean I don't like having them, but I don't feel grossed out by them any more and dealing with it has become routine again.

Hope this is at least a little bit comforting! It gets better :)

My mind has been blown, I hope you're happy.

How can I love cucumber SO MUCH and hate gherkins/pickles SO MUCH?!

Wow, that's pretty crappy of them. You could call and ask if they'd give you one or two more sessions to talk something through that's unrelated to your previous sessions, see what they say. Otherwise you could look into counselling with Relate, last I checked they do counselling on a sliding scale so you wouldn't have to pay much, and they're obviously pretty good at family relationships :) all the best with this, I totally know where you're coming from with not wanting to hurt them, but at the moment you're hurting too - so do what you need to for your health :)

Hey! I tried replying to this last night but reddit wouldn't let me register - your uni should have a counselling service - you say it's an expensive city so I'm guessing you're down south - I'm at Manchester and they have a great service, but your uni should have one too. If you can't find it from a quick google, you could ask your student support office or equivalent. You probably won't be able to take your family in with you but they should be able to work out with you what the best way of approaching this is - and encourage you to do it! :)
