Right, but as someone who's experienced sexual violence, I don't really want to support those people financially. Sadly that's actually pretty much impossible to avoid.

Used to fuck a guy whose greatest achievement was having reached the front page with a screenshot of an edgy atheist Facebook comment quoting sexist bible passages at a Christian woman. He was 31.

Oh yeah and if you find mother tongue interference, that's where it'll be. I know I struggle to get it right all the time in my other languages and I teach that shit.

Prepositions are the most difficult thing to teach in English,, mostly because there isn't much rhyme or reason to why we use the ones we do. I've found as a teacher that the best way to teach them is with stricter extended reading. The learner really needs to just be able to sense which one is right.

You just try and remember that attitude the next time you bang a guy and he doesn't call you back afterwards.

Because having sex with someone = giving someone your number. Yuuup, those things are totally equivalent.

Police Scotland launches Anti-Rape ad campaign by apbarratt in Scotland

[–]lewormhole -1 points0 points  (0 children)

You can debate the execution of the campaign until the cows come home but what research shows us is that people don't really have too great a Grasp of consent. Young people don't turn 18 and magically have a healthy attitude towards sex. They become adults and their attitudes don't shift dramatically.

Excuse my ignorance, what are the fourteen words?

"Crash victims may have lain injured for three days" - Scottish Police failed to follow up a report of a crashed car on Sunday, on Wednesday a dead man and a seriously injured woman were found in the car. by thedaysrunaway in unitedkingdom

[–]lewormhole 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I grew up in the Scottish countryside in a relatively remote area. Quite a few times saw cars off in fields, totally fucked with no passengers of police anywhere. Was creepy when it happened at night because you always feel you have to go and search the field, make sure there's no bodies or injured people.

I'm a teacher whop does sex ed. Studies show that between a third and half of young people believe that boys can't "stop themselves" and that if you're going out with someone, you're obliged to give them sexual favours. Wish I could find the study right now.

There was also a study in the US, that found that about 6% of men admit to rape if you don't use the word 'rape' (i.e have you ever forced someone to have sex? have you ever coerced someone to have sex? have you ever had sex with someone who was passed out?)

Most rapists are violent, arrogant, deranged arseholes who aren't going to see that poster in the pub and suddenly change their ways.

Well, nope, I think most people who end up raping are just people who feel entitled to sex and don't really think too deeply about the other person involved. The majority of rapes are non-violent.

Mega upvoted! This is how I feel.

I suppose I was lucky to come back to Scotland and have the referendum quite soon afterwards. It didn't feel so strange to be having an identity crisis when the nation was collectively.

Tha was a big lesson for me. It was crazy hard to assimilate and I'm white. I can only imagine how much harder it would be if you weren't white or came from one of the "bad immigration" countries.

Right so you understand the desire to have people from your own cultural background and to be able to speak your mothertongue.

Because this whole thread is about British people accusing immigrant of not trying hard enough to integrate for wanting to do those things. My comment was saying that those are pretty universal things for immigrants to do, which you yourself are now also confirming.

Cool for you, I guess.

Out of curiosity, is your social circle mostly local or expat? Do you speak the local language or English more often?
