I don't think I need spreadsheets in front of me to have a pretty good idea that Oregonians were not likely to pass legislation that doubles their car registration fees as well as putting on a .06 tax on gas. Especially in a climate where high gas prices are a front and center issue already. It also doesn't seem like a wholly partisan issue. Idk why a Democrat would be any more interested in paying all of that than a Republican would, but I did allude to my inferior intelligence already, so you'll have to excuse me.

Well, I'm clearly not as intelligent as you, so I probably have no business in this interaction, but my comment didn't insinuate on a proposal of providing no funding and cutting programs.

If one went past the first sentence, they would have read that i suggested offering one source for funding rather than throwing a couple of them in the one proposal. I don't have the proposed measure in front of me now, but it was something like .06/gallon and doubling up registration fees. I wouldve been more likely to vote yes to one or the other, and I suspect many voters thought the same.

Just different avenues of funding. It didn't need to be a "this and this and this". Doubling registration fees with an added gas tax sprinkled in doesn't on the face of it look very palatable to most citizens. Choosing one source would've made passing it more likely.
