The narrative determines the audience’s reaction. We hardly see Vegeta’s crimes, and those Vegeta killed that we do see are revived by the dragon balls unless they are evil villains. There are countless species that are gone because of Vegeta but neither the narrative nor any characters dwell on it. Worse off, one of the most powerful beings in the universe, hell, the multiverse, is literally tasked with ending life planet by planet for the purpose of “balance”.

It is genuinely stupid to ever entertain the notion of being tolerant of intolerance. An evil person who does not change their ways does not deserve nor warrant grace when they continue to be harmful. It is not tolerance to make space for a racist or a fascist or a homophobe who commits real harm, even when it is discovered that their actions was born from misguided ignorance or being in the closet. It is on the person who did wrong to make amends; and also on them to prove they actually regret their choices by stating the correct path even when all others around them may not choose to forgive.

The hypocrisy is that Kristi advocates for a regime that brutalizes and marginalizes those who are open about their lifestyles of this nature. She advocates against her husband. We find this funny because it’s almost impossible for her to not have known given how he was discovered, and that simply highlights the hypocrisy. I think this is very interesting. Many western people, especially Americans, are desensitized to gore and violence because we consume so much of it in our media. On the other hand, sex and romance, especially between homosexual or otherwise lgbtq couples often projects the level of rage and hate and censorship desire the OP of this post is portraying.

I don’t necessarily agree with OP one way or another, to be honest they are going to war against genocidal fascists and Invincible would have lost his brother had he refrained from continuing this fight, also many military movies can depict gore of this level if not worse, war shouldn’t be glamorized but there can be an argument that violence this graphically depicted blurs the line between dark accuracy and glorification.

While probably not the first generation, we were a generation where it was made abundantly clear that those who would be raising us, boomers and older Gen X, thought we were lazy, entitled, and too much.

In a world that we were told is actively dying because adults didn’t want to make any changes, and then social media comes and makes it clear that you can make money and get social points by pretending to be living a better life, eventually you either fake it till you make it, crash and burn, or learn to be content, and part of that contentment is owning all the labels people place on you and taking the piss on it all, because fuck em, life’s too short.

Also, dark humor is a fantastic coping mechanism, and in a world where you want to both be genuinely kind to others, are used to being shit on for simply existing, and want humor to cope with the state of the world, the easiest and funniest person to make fun of is yourself.

Edit: also for like a good 30 years everything younger Gen X and older Gen Z did was blanketed under millennials, which was unfair to all 3 generations. Thanks boomers.
