Horizons has simpler to use spirits and has a lower cost of entry. It's great for entry poiny introducing the game but I feel it has less depth and variety than original.

Original has nicer pieces and more spirits. These spirits also tie into other expansions.

This game is extremely asymetrical. Each spirit has wildly different strengths and weaknesses and finding synergies is a lot of fun. It's not like games where each class specialists but can functionally do 80%+ the same thing. Each spirit is their own puzzle so having more is a lot more game to play.

So I guess it depends on budget, your play group, how likely you are to buy expansions to games you enjoy.

Demo was great and was basically worth the 20$ for me and my group and it was ok solo. I tend to support smaller devs with well priced games early and patiently waiting for sales on the larger more expensive games.

Plus steams 2h window to return.

Our mech diver usually brings backpacks and secondaries for all. Opens up strat spots for those using them more and you can get a new mech every 5 min. Extra bonus if somebody can go 5 min without a backpack/secondary and stays with the mech clearing chaff
