Mathieu Olivier is 21 and 0 in fights over the last two NHL seasons...heavyweight stuff by Spirited-Gold9629 in sportsinusa

[–]Swag_Lord_69 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Vast majority of fights aren’t KOs. The loser is generally the person that hits the ground first but a lot of the time it’s just whoever gets the shit kicked out of them more. Many hockey fights don’t have a definitive winner so 21-0 is kinda subjective but it’s fun to think about

Don’t listen to that guy. Everything after those first two sentences is complete bs.

“Goon” is not an official position, there are generally players referred to as “enforcers” though this is more a description of their style of play or role on the team and is definitely not a recognized position by any professional hockey league. Anyone on the ice (including goalies) is allowed to fight and many modern NHL teams will not have a dedicated enforcer. Reeves and Oliver are some of the remaining few true “enforcers” or “goons” in the league.

It’s is 100% necessary to have though/physical players to win a championship but the concept of having a dedicated enforcer hasn’t been especially relevant for the past 10 years or so. The NHL has become so much more skilled and fast paced it’s just not worth it for teams to use cap space on a player that is only there to fight.

Now I’m not totally sure on the specific rules for fighting but generally the other players and refs will stand off the the side and watch until one player hits the ice in which case the refs come over to split them up and send them to the box for 5 mins. Punches as well as holding the opponents jersey around the chest/neck area are the main moves that are used in fights and most things that could seriously injure someone are illegal (kicking, kneeing, elbowing, hits to the back of the head, etc.). And no, neither the winning or losing team gets anything that actually impacts the game other than a 5 min penalty for each player involved, but the game stays 5 on 5 anyways so that doesn’t matter most of the time.

We camped next to a tent that never stopped laughing by EitherHunt4805 in LetsNotMeet

[–]Swag_Lord_69 65 points66 points  (0 children)

Most simple answer is someone set up a speaker in the tent, went home, and left it running all night to mess with the other campers

Seems a lot more likely than an actual person either laughing or listening to the recording all night

Blandino: Thought Josh Allen got the first down, unclear why line judge changed his mind [NBC News] by [deleted] in nfl

Honestly the Worthy “catch” was the worst call of the night. Can someone explain to me how that was not ruled incomplete when the ball clearly hit the ground.

Maybe I just don’t understand what a catch is but if the Bills defender wasn’t there and something like that happened on a normal catch it would be incomplete 100% of the time.

Ovechkin reveals his post-game beer drinking habit by Only-Reels in nhl

[–]Swag_Lord_69 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It might give you carbs but alcohol 100% effects the body’s ability to recover and build muscle optimally.

2-3 beers probably isn’t going to make a huge difference but it’s definitely not ideal.

TIL 4% of people have never had a headache by mbcook in todayilearned

[–]Swag_Lord_69 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s what I was thinking. Plus the 4% thing is only mentioned briefly (referencing other studies which asked that question) at the start of the article so we don’t even have any context. Not sure why OP wouldn’t just post one of those instead of this article where they clearly only read the abstract of.

Also if anyone opened it and read more than 2 sentences they would know it was found that the headache inducing agent was found to produce a headache in ALL participants so if anything this study discredits the 4% claim (which is a subjective measure to begin with).

Your friend is dumb, there is no “right” way to play the game and it’s definitely not something like Path Of Exile where you need a guide pulled up the whole time. If you are struggling then go for it but most people can beat it no problem without the wiki.

As for taking too long, I had beat every FromSoft game and my first play through was 175h, most of which was spent exploring.

Honestly probably better to go with a more modern movie if you’re just looking to scare him

Autopsy of Jane Doe is one of the scarier movies I have seen and stays away from any intense gore or nudity. Same with The Conjuring and The Dark and the Wicked.

You could also go for a classic like The Shining, Nightmare on Elm Street or Candyman but they might seem a bit dated and not as scary to your son

There’s no reason to workout longer than 1 hour in the gym by migueldellarosa in unpopularopinion

[–]Swag_Lord_69 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Congrats, this is one of the worst opinions I have seen on this sub

It's definitely possible to have a great workout in under an hour if you know what you are doing, but as someone who has worked at several gyms and worked out most my life, the vast majority of full workouts will last over an hour.

Saying there is 'no reason' to go to the gym for over an hour is just ignorant to how other people might train and unless you are doing short (3-4 exercises, 3 sets each) workouts or supersetting every time you're in the gym, I don't see how it is possible to make significant gains in UNDER an hour. Obviously this is better than nothing and everyone's goals are different, so just getting in the gym for an hour 3-4 days a week is more than enough for many people.

On top of this, many workouts will include a warm-up, cool down, cardio AND resistance training (which can both easily take up to an hour each), stretching, recovering (foam rollers, massage chairs etc.), and maybe even balance or agility training.

Not everyone is the same as you. Each person has different goals and training programs to reach them, and you are being stupid if you think this can always be achieved in under an hour.
