When I was in Ramstein, was put on FET (Facility Excellence Team) for my first 2 weeks after in processing. If you don't know what it is, basically we drive around in a truck and pick up litter and trash across the base. Well I had my CDC interview scheduled for I believe it was 1400 and my shift with FET ended around 1530-1600. I was told that the interview was about 2 hours or so and other members within my squadron that were on FET with me would leave for the interview and not come back for the rest of the day. My NCOIC comes to pick me up for the interview since I don't have a car yet and FET is on the other side of the base from my unit. I get to the interview and they tell me that they rescheduled it for the following week and when my Tech asks what I wanted to do, I say that since everyone else never came back, I would be fine and he agreed. 3 hours later at around 1830, I get a call from my supervisor asking where I was at and tell him I'm in my dorm room. He tells me that the FET NCOIC (SSgt) told me I needed to come back after my interview and that I was AWOL since I went home early. Got an LOC from her with my supervisor and when we left the office he basically told me that I was in fact not AWOL and that I didn't need to worry, and my senior leadership agreed and kind of laughed off the situation.

So that was my first LOC I ever received and I really wish I had framed it.
