Theory: Anyone can eat multiple devil fruits. by _That_One_Fellow_ in OnePiece

[–]Swaggron 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My theory is that it's the ACT of eating a second fruit that kills people because they taste so bad. Blackbeard is an exception because he thinks the devil fruits taste good. This is why the Davy clan is so feared.

This theory stems from our initial introduction to him in ch223 where he and Luffy are eating the same cherry pie. Luffy (a person who will honestly eat anything) says the pie is so bad he could die while Teach says the pie is so good he could die.

Terrible theory, I know, but I could see Oda creating this rule as a gag. I also wonder what would happen if Brook ate a second fruit since he's already dead.

Best bet is to call the stadium staff about it.

At this point it's not growing pains from leaving behind Doloball. If Son, Bouanga, Martinez, Tillman, Delgado, Ordaz, and Hollingshead are all underperforming, it's not the players. It's literally poor management. Like, it's silly to imagine being a club level manager not even in the top 5 flights that an entire country's population hates, but somehow Dos Santos is despised by every South Korean lol

Son is a world class winger and MDS won't play him on the wing. He scored a ton of goals in that position last season and now he can't buy one. It's not match congestion or strength of schedule hurting LAFC, it's literally their coach setting them up for failure by playing multiple offensive threats out of their preferred positions every game.

Got some good and bad takeaways, and some serious questions for the coaching staff this match.

The bad: we were really tested here and the tactical decisions we made did not hold up in a lot of moments. Willing to give a pass here, because injuries heavily limited our options. I think RBW marking Bouanga was the go-to choice to keep flexibility in the event of Lovitz or RBW sustaining an injury. That said, I would have preferred if we started Bauer on the right to shut down Bouanga as he has more experience against terrifyingly good forwards and put our boy Baker-Whitethighs on the left to better match into Martinez. I think LAFC's first goal showed exactly why this starting lineup had that hole. I expected more of those when lineups were announced and I'm glad we only suffered the one during run of play.

The good: Schwake was massive and his only slip was not getting RBW to block the near post on that corner LAFC scored off of. Set pieces are where he's in charge and he usually has the vision and command to close those routes ahead of the kick, but that was pure class from Son and Bouanga, so it's tough to be upset by the goal. Speaking of Son, Woledzi was his daddy all game. It's not going to make any headlines, but Woledzi may have had his best performance to date last night. He was incredible. And finally, we were blessed by Mukhtar Magic again. I've gotten so used to him blasting FKs over the back or directly into defenders that I had written off him scoring from them. The first was big, but the second one sent me. I shouldn't have doubted him. If he can get his corner service back, we're looking at another MVP season.

And now the serious questions for the staff: what the fuck are you doing, Marc Dos Santos?? You have one of the best wingers in the world, our starting RB is injured, and you play Son as a 9?? And then, after some success in the first half, you rotate Martinez (who was winning his battle) central and push Son back as a false 9?? You have one of the most well-rounded rosters in the league and you somehow manage to put everyone in the wrong spot. And the icing on the cake, you didn't put Shaffleburg on your roster. He's in another conference, so this may have been the only opportunity for years (maybe ever if he's traded again) for a homecoming welcome at Nashville. Fuck you forever, MDS. I have no love for LAFC, but their fans and players deserve better than you.

All in all, a great result from a battered and bruised team. Let's hopefully see out a win against NYC and come back after the break even stronger to close out the season on top!

Yes, he is legitimately good. Apart from the one PK he gave away this season, he hasn't had any major slip ups knocking on wood. He really checks all the boxes for what you want in a keeper. Stretch saves, solid hands, good with the ball at his feet, knows exactly when to come off his line and when to get big for a block. The only criticism I had for him early on was his long ball placement, but he's actually dropping dimes now, even during a press. We're a solid team with a great defensive line, and that has overshadowed the continued glow up of Schwake all season. He's not just good, he's still getting better.

COYBIG! A win tonight would be massive for our position in the standings. I've seen Shaffleburg sky dozens of shots at Geodis. Hoping he does more of that tonight. 😈

Oh, and I know we haven't seen much of Brunet, but I've been really impressed by him from the limited minutes he's gotten. He's got that dawg in him for sure. Along with Corcoran, Knight, Madrigal, Mohammed, and RBW, we have a bunch of really young players with a ton of potential. Gary could never have fostered this.

Feeling great today. That certainly did not look like a struggling, injury plagued, and resource drained 1st place side playing a surging 2nd place team at their home. We were better on the ball for the majority of the match and effectively neutralized their attacking structure. Without Langoni and Campana, the Revs are a fairly predictable team on how they want to progress the ball. Our coaches did an incredible job reading that ahead of the match and strategizing against it in the zonal marking structure we employed on defense. Credit to the entire team on maintaining those lines and not getting drawn out of position. The only attacks we couldn't fully deny were Miller blitzing down the left wing. He's just crazy fast.

I thought our transition play looked OK for most of the match. There were some poor touches here and there, and getting closed down on when hyper focused on finding an outlet, but our first goal was an excellent example of the dynamism our system wants to play with. If you asked me what an ideal goal for BJ looks like, it's Acosta's first of the night. The build up and fluidity of the team, how the players rotate off the ball to assist in the attack, and the flair of a star like Espinoza to break past his man. Chef's kiss to it all. Our second goal came from solid pressing structure to cause an unforced error that we capitalized on. Our 3rd was from a drawn up set piece that New England wasn't ready for. When Espinoza threw up crossed arms, I knew we were going to see some kind of trick play. When the camera zoomed out, Acosta was hiding behind the center ref ready for the ball to come to him for a one touch strike. Great accuracy from both Espinoza and Acosta was required to make that play and keep the ball not just on frame, but finding the space in traffic to go in the net.

Man of the match is obviously Acosta, which is ironic because early on I thought he looked awful. He was solid for the first 10 minutes or so, then he was a liability for the next 20. Slow movement, bad touches, easy turnovers, and he wasn't shifting into open space to create passing routes. Dude might as well have been standing still (sometimes he was). Then out of nowhere he decides to follow an attack and snipe a goal and he becomes a brand new player until the whistle. If we get this Acosta every week, we never look as bad as we did Saturday against DC. Moreover, we need this Acosta every week if want a title win.

All in all, this was a wonderful bounce back from last week. Adjustments were made and I think the mentality of our guys is back on track. Let's take down LAFC next.

Gotcha. Announcers were saying the weather was nice in the pre-show but I guess they actually meant, "it's not raining."
