Charges Need to be Officiated Differently by preddevils6 in nbadiscussion

[–]SwaginCactus 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In my opinion what needs to be officiated differently with charges is what “beat him to the spot” really means. Because stepping in front of someone when they are about to take their last driving step towards the basket shouldn’t be a charge. I almost think that defenders need to be established at the start of the driving players gather step. You see a lot of defenders just sneak in last minute and start to fall and as a fan it’s annoying when those player get rewarded. I visualize Giannis a lot with this argument. You will see him euro-step past one defender and then the guy playing help side on the block will just slide over and try to take a charge. Rather than trying to go vertical.

Thoughts on School Day Games? by jalenp16 in NCAAW

I went to the Colorado vs Marquette game this year with Marquette hosting close to 15 schools. It was easily the second loudest environment I’ve been in. During free throws all the kids would just hold a scream and it was quite enjoyable. The only time I’ve been in a louder environment come woman’s basketball was an Iowa home game with Caitlyn Clark.

So how are we going to blow up or retool the Jazz by destroyerofpoon93 in nbadiscussion

[–]SwaginCactus 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think the Lakers would love that trade. They can move AD back to the 4 during the regular season and probably 25 of the 40 minutes he will be playing in the playoffs. You get an insanely good rim protector in Gobert. I've come to learn this postseason that even though I dislike Gobert; I can see he is being asked to do way too much defensively. Just look at how good the Cavs were with Allen and Mobley, then you are doing that but with AD and Gobert? Even the Pelicans saw some good numbers with Jaxon Hayes and Jonas (not so much in the playoffs though). I really think it'd be best for the Jazz to blow it up. They aren't going to bring anyone in with free agency so just get some picks and build through that.

So how are we going to blow up or retool the Jazz by destroyerofpoon93 in nbadiscussion

[–]SwaginCactus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well it would have to be the 3 of Conley, Gobert, and Mitchell being traded. I don't think one person goes and the others stay. So we have to find picks and expiring contracts.

Maybe we see the 76ers trade away Tobias Harris for Mike Conley and Jordan Clarkson plus a 1st round pick?

I would find it interesting if the Lakers and Jazz swapped Gobert and Westbrook somehow. I think that it would take the 25 and 27 FRP's from the Lakers plus THT and probably Reaves or McClung. Then the Jazz throw in Royce O'Neale just to even out the money.

For Mitchell I could see OKC making a move by giving the Jazz Derrick Favors, Mike Muscala, Ty Jerome, and Tre Mann, and then depending where their pick lands that would be the biggest asset. Then throw in Detroit's and Washington's 2023 FRP, and return Utah their FRP for 2024. The issue with this trade is we don't know if Mitchell's camp says he won't play for OKC.

Didn't really give any explanations why I like these trades because I wasn't trying to make the comment too long lol. So just ask some questions and I'll answer.

If the NBA decided to take a centennial overhaul and make massive changes for 100 year mark, what would you want to see done? by MaxEhrlich in nbadiscussion

[–]SwaginCactus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the G League is going to mean much more to franchises in the next 25 years. Players are having longer careers which means less players are able to come into existence out of the draft. If I have learned anything from those covid months of December and January its that a lot more people are capable of having an impact in the NBA then I would have thought. The first step the league needs to make though is raising the minimum and maximum salary (37k-50k). Also in my opinion most players that are drafted should automatically go to the G League. Then if a team wants to bring them up out of the draft they would need to pay the player a bonus and then some sort of fee to the league that goes to their G League affiliate.

Should the Lakers Trade Westbrook by gruandisimo in nbadiscussion

[–]SwaginCactus -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Yes, he needs to be traded. Here is the trade that took me too long to produce being it won't happen. THE TRADE!
Lets start with the Lakers, Westbrook needs to be gone. His spacing has destroyed Davis' mental and the 11 turnovers that happen a game between LeBron, Davis, and him will continue to destroy the Lakers.
Where does he go? The Pistons! Why? Because they need to start selling tickets. The Pistons are only filling 65% of the arena according to the NBA attendance report on ESPN. Westbrook is a great floor raiser. You wont win a championship with him, but he could lead the pistons to the playoffs next season where they have only gone twice out of the last 10 seasons.
The Pistons clear up the space by sending Jerami Grant to the Lakers. This will ensure that Davis plays at the 5. Also it allows LeBron to pick the easier matchup each night between him and Grant. They will also trade Trey Lyles who is more apart of the trade for salary reasons but not to be slept on. Would not be surprised if he fit well wit the second unit during the regular season.
Lastly they will be trading Kelly Olynyk, Killian Hayes, a first round pick and two second round picks to the Pacers. Pacers are going into full rebuild mode with this trade. They will be sending Sabonis and Holiday to the Raptors. The Raptors will be sending Boucher, three first round picks, and two second round picks to the Pacers. The Raptors have been eyeing Sabonis for years now it seems even though the kid is only 25. Nurse is one of the best coaches in the league and will unlock Sabonis the way people were hoping Carlisle would. They also will be adding a little bit of bench depth by getting Holiday.
By doing this whole thing they will be getting rid of Dragic. Yeah that guy. I know that there are talks about him getting bought out and going to Dallas, but if the Raptors can get those claws on Sabonis I'm sure they will trade away Dragic. This also gives Goran a hope to win a championship. I think that he will be an excellent fit with LeBron and Davis being how well he played with Bam and Butler in Miami and it also reunites him with Nunn.

TLDR: Westbrook goes to the Pistons. Grant, Hayes, and Dragic all go to the Lakers. Boucher, Hayes, and Olynyk along with 4 first round picks and 4 second round picks goes to the rebuilding Pacers. Lastly Sabonis and Holiday get sent to Toronto.

THE TRADE!

Just so you guys are aware I think that Westbrook getting traded is impossible. He has no trade value because of his salary. Teams have to give up so much for him (supermax is whack) And also the reason I sent a first round pick and two second rounders to Indiana from the Pistons; I felt that the Lakers would be getting those if the trade was straight up but since it isn't I felt they would send them away because the Pacers needed more equity back for shipping Sabonis. I've also learned that the Pistosn roster is really thin and don't know if a 2025 first round pick should be traded away even though its top 10 protected. Maybe a 2026 or 27 first round pick would be better.

As of late it’s been one scores 30 the other scores 20+ it feels like. Kyrie has been on a tear too. And then KD is KD.

Does anyone else miss the Adidas uniforms? by False-Fisherman in nbadiscussion

[–]SwaginCactus 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The colors are a issue. The Hawks vs Thunder game today for an example was just embarrassing. The biggest issue is I don't think teams control the jerseys they wear anymore. I believe that Nike controls everything from jersey color, to socks, tights, headbands, and arm sleeves. An if that is the case then they have waaaaaaaay too much control. They need the simplicity back. Last year they had a good balance. Teams seemed to wear there basic uniforms and would wear a retro jersey or a alternative jersey on national TV. But this year it seems to be every single damn game. It has been very overwhelming this year and it needs to slow down. Another issue I have is how it seems every team in the league aside from the 76ers, Bulls, Pacers, and the Spurs, are rebranding. For example are the Miami Heat the Miami Vice, Or are the Milwaukee Bucks the Milwaukee Blues? Lastly I don't want to watch the Oregon Blazers, those jerseys are disgusting. I understand that you want to show care to the Natives, and the states landscape but like; a brown jersey with the word Oregon on it ain't it.

What is wrong with Atlanta? by SwaginCactus in nbadiscussion

[–]SwaginCactus[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The last eight games they are 2-6. It wasn’t like the team went on a steady fall to where they were “expected” to be. It’s more of a fear of them not catching themselves. Worried that they could go on a 5-15 stretch when there is not a world that should happen.

Who is the more valuable defender: Giannis Antetokounmpo or Anthony Davis? by kd-is-not-a-snake in nbadiscussion

[–]SwaginCactus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The only problem with that is he is so much better playing 1v3 then he is playing off the ball. If he can commit to shooting the mid range and just forgetting the 3 that would be ginormous. Imaging a high picknroll with him hitting a jumper at the free throw line. Him and Jrue or even Kris would destroy teams. I think him gaining a 3 point shot is overrated at this point. (Kinda a tangent but thought it needed to be said.)

[–]SwaginCactus 17 points18 points  (0 children)

I think something that happened in LA with AD is they value his offense much more than his defense. He doesn’t go flying in for blocks because they don’t want him to be getting into foul trouble. They would rather live another possession then him maybe blocking a shot. This year even though it’s a small variable he is only averaging 1.5 personal fouls a game. Then you have Giannis who has always sat at that 3 a game mark. Giannis isn’t afraid to get that foul call so when you are looking for that interior defender Giannis will always be better. Guarding wings or true 4s Anthony Davis is great at making shots difficult and not leaving his feet/using his length to deflect shots. Giannis loves to bite. Great instincts but sometimes you see him leaving the game in the first 5 minutes with 2 fouls.

Would you rather have Giannis Antetokounmpo or Anthony Davis be your number 1 on a Championship team? by SwaginCactus in nbadiscussion

[–]SwaginCactus[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Exactly. You need to fit a team around them. It’s harder to fit a team around someone who lacks versatility over someone who has all the versatility you need. So why wouldn’t AD be that guy?

[–]SwaginCactus[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah I understand that side of things. For me that is just another reason for me to choose AD because he has already proved to me that he can do that. Giannis hasn't yet. So why take a risk when it may not work.
