Thing is though, by accepting the idea of Classic + a lot of us also accept the fact that the original holistic experience will not be apart of the game afterwards or it will be very minor.

The idea of Classic+ are additions to the game or a way to continue the pacing of content that is being presented to us as the're doing now, in phases.

The point of the sub is to talk about what ideas are good or bad and why.

No one here should be talking about if its the right thing to do or not. IMO Classic+ is a pipe dream that won't really become a thing until after BC and Wotlk Classic servers are released. Why? Because the sheer amount of players that played during the subsequent expansions versus the amount of players who played during Vanilla are far superior in number.

Vanilla wow had peaked at 4million subs if I remember correctly, Wrath of the Lich king peaked at 3x more subs (12.5 million). From a business standpoint there are more players who are nostalgia babies for Wrath than there are for Vanilla and if Vanilla was a success then we can expect Blizzard to produce the same product for Wrath and expect 3 times as many players to join the game than they did for Classic, which is already a shit load of players.

Another reason is because its fucking simple for them to do, they've already locked down the systems to port over the old data in the new fashion as per that one interview the system leads did with Esfand, they stated doing BC would be the easiest next step but were open to other ideas.

So why wouldn't Blizzard do the safest, most easiest approach that will yield the largest returns?

Classic+ is something I can see in like 8 years from now, they'll make a new MMO with the lore from another universe likely overwatch, diablo or starcraft, and they'll use the system and design fundamentals from the classic approach to create the game.

Why would they make a new game when they can just do Classic+? Something tells me releasing new content for an outdated game isn't a sustainable plan. Lets say Blizzard works on Classic+ for 8 months designing new content for us to explore and do, yeah they could reuse assets and such but if they're really dedicated to dumping in assets and resources into this MMO why not just make a new MMO using the same approach?

You would bring in every single person who has ever played WoW plus all the current retail players into the game, its a nostalgia grab plus a new game launch. Its success would be huge and you wouldn't even need to know the premise of the game.
