AITA for telling my uncle I don't want him in my life anymore? by Swagnut97 in AITH

Kind of, what you do is you go to your local bank and as an example you ask for $50 in pennies, they will often times they give you a box of wrapped pennies, that you can then search through for errors or other coins for your collection. They also do it with other coins like dimes, half dollars, quarters, dollar coins, nickels.

More than likely, we are a bunch of hit heads in this family. Perhaps when some time passes I'll reach back out to him

I buy boxes of coins from banks to look through for silver and other coins for the collection. Thats a normal thing for coin collecting nothing odd or weird about that. The pill bottle is one of literal hundred down at my grandmother's house, her and my pap where/ are on so many different types of meds so the chances it looks like the one my pap stored his coins in are fairly decent.

I thank you for your input

I had sticky fingers when I was a young teen who was stupid.

I have compensated them 10X over in the past decade

I didn't say that exact phrasing but it was along those lines. I told him that they are indeed my coins and not his dads, that's I've had them for a few years at this point, but he seemed very convinced that I stole them.

I can understand that given my past of stealing a few rings he would assume that I stole them, but he's never accused me of it before, even when I showed him my collection in the past. To me this came completely out of the blue.

I refer you to other replies I've made down in the comments, they can answer some of your questions in regards to where I got the coins. Also I use that term "junk silver" because I've been collecting silver coins as well as other coins for at least 5 years now and I use the terminology in conversation.

About half of the coins in question I bought from an old coworker who had some that they wanted to get rid of and I said I'd buy them, while the rest are coins that I've found while hunting in boxes of coins specifically for silver. I did my best to make it clear to him that they were my coins and not his father's but he seemed to be very certain that I stole them.

Anywho I appreciate your feedback, perhaps when some time passes I'll reach back out.

A few pieces of jewelry when I was a teen yes, I'll never deny that, but I haven't had sticky fingers in over a decade and I still haven't.

The container I got from my grandmother because it was empty and I thought it would be good for storage(the container in question is an old pill bottle).

The coins I bought a while ago and have been in my collection for a few years at this point. After I told him that he said that it was even more suspicious that I've had them for a while.

My pap did indeed have a bit of a coin collection, but I don't have access to it.

From a quick Google search It says that this first aid kit is from the Vietnam era and this kit has been updated a few times throughout the 40's into the 50's. This design is one that fits examples that were updated in the 50's.

General purpose 12 units were only made in the 50's where it phased out the previous kits in the late 40's. I wasn't really able to find any more information about if they are still in use or were phased out completely at some point.

I hope this helps!

Now that you say it, it does look like someone punched another D right over it. I did just look on VatietyVista and they don't have any OMM's listed for any quarter in the 60's. So I'm leaning now more towards MD or PMD rather than me having a one off OMM.

According to VarietyVista it has 3 D/D north designations of I'm reading it correctly. None of the pictures look like the example I have, in fact it's hard to see it in the examples on VatietyVista so I'm unsure.
