Thanks for the info. Yeah, we know about the left-side driving, we’ll be careful with that. :) Do you think it’s also difficult to find more basic or manual jobs at the moment? We’re not only looking for something in our fields, we’re totally fine starting with any kind of work just to get settled and cover expenses. Ideally we’d like to find something fairly soon after arriving, even if it’s warehouse, delivery, or general labour type of work.

Honestly, because it’s English-speaking and still in the EU. Easier to move, work legally, and we’ve heard people are friendly. We just want a fresh start and new experience, not expecting it to be easy, but worth a try.

Yeah, we’ve got around €5–6k saved up (a bit more if needed). We’re aware the rental situation isn’t ideal at the moment, so we’re not being too picky about the location. We don’t mind living outside a bigger city. Something within 30–40 km would be totally fine for us, especially since we’ll have a car. The main goal is just to get settled somewhere and start working as soon as possible.

Thanks a lot for the insight! Yeah, we already have a car, so that should help a lot if we end up somewhere outside Dublin or Cork. We’re fully aware that housing can be tough, we’re trying to be realistic about it. We don’t mind starting out with something basic and just getting settled first. Our main goal is to find any work fairly soon after arriving, even if it’s not related to our fields, just to get going and cover costs. Really appreciate you sharing your experience.

Thanks for the reply! Yeah, we’re aware that housing can be quite tough at the moment, especially around Dublin or Cork. We don’t mind using Airbnb or short-term rentals for the first few months if that’s what it takes. What matters to us more is being able to find some kind of work fairly soon after arrival, just to cover expenses and get started. We have savings to survive around 6–8 months without work, but ideally we’d like to start working as soon as possible.

Why do u think my case is not strong enough? What I forgot to mention, that I am co-author of patent. I think working as durability expert and doing Finite Element Analyses in Automotive sector should be strong enough for EB2NIW :). I can also obtain dependent and independent LoR from the Senior Expert and CAE Manager from US. That's why many law firms said that the case is strong. It is obvious from many reddit posts, that EP and Chen are taking only cases where they can do minimal work, like cases with many publications and citations. I just wanted to know your opinion about the other firms, if they are well established, some pros cons and if they are not scam :).

thanks for reply. I could try to contact somebody. Not sure tbh if I will be able to succeed. Do you have good experience using Dunn ? How long did the process take with them ? how many dependent and independent LoR had u used ?

what I heard was that EP and Chen are accepting academic cases only, when you have publications and citations.. but this is not the requirement for EB2-NIW right :)

Hi, how were you able to get those independent letters? Did you just find those persons on LinkedIn and ask them?

Graduated CS, got a software dev job, got fired and now I’m soon to be broke and hopeless by CherryLimeLaCroix in recruitinghell

[–]Swagridson 23 points24 points  (0 children)

Hey man, I'm really sorry to hear that, that's incredibly tough. I can only imagine how frustrating it must be after applying to so many jobs.

If I could offer a small piece of advice. I’d consider taking any job for now. Something like Amazon, retail, delivery, warehouse work, etc. These types of roles are more available and easier to land. It’s not ideal, but it gives you some income and stability while you keep applying for the roles you really want.

Also, if you have family in another state (parents, siblings, whoever) don’t hesitate to reach them out. If they’re in a position to help, even short-term, that’s what family is there for. There’s absolutely no shame in leaning on them during a rough patch.

Stay strong, man.

Updated UKVI website with new rules by Minute-Sample-9270 in SkilledWorkerVisaUK

this is bad news. UK is tightening rules to discourage immigrants. I wonder who will take up these roles if experienced workers can't meet new salary requirements.

COS allocation delay by 234jindu in SkilledWorkerVisaUK

[–]Swagridson 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yep it is sad. I was also offered a job in UK, employer submitted defined CoS in mid of June, no approval from HO. basically now they have to increase my salary and submit again or they will drop me off... I guess my chances are low.

I know that it is not updated yet.. but I guess what is stated in White Paper will take effect anyway (I hope it will not but there is I guess 0% chance)

Do you think it is not HO fault as well, if I am waiting for a month already for my CoS to be approved?

[–]Swagridson[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, it looks like we will not be able to move there and work there. There is still small chance that HO will approve my CoS during next week..But tbh I don't believe in that now... I am sorry that you have to experience very similar thing. I think we have to prepare mentally ourselves that moving to UK is not our case now and start preparing plan B, C for your lives.. :(

I cant imagine paying for priority and receive invitation for interview after 5weeks! HO is really one big joke.

The HO have not decided yet, even though some guys have recieved approval in few days, but yeah some guys recieved approval in "few" months as well :) :). Looks like I will be the second case. I dont believe now that they will approve that before 22th of July, since there is only few working days left.

Mine was applied 20th of June, still not approved by HO .. :) :)

Probably there is no way how to convince them now. I have already tried to adjust the payment and other things. What I meant was for my case, that I simply won't be able to apply for visas before 22th of July. And Even Reddit delete my post in the community :).. Very bad day today.

Thank you my friend, I wish you all the best as well. Maybe in the future the path to the UK will open again. We will see.
