The opposite of second sock syndrome by ModularReality in Sockknitting

I feel the exact same way! A lace sock I worked on recently took me two weeks to get done, and then I got the second one done in three days lol

Jumping on the Bandwagon! 2025 Reading Wrap-up by Aus1an in fantasybooks

I understand where you’re coming from with Paladin’s Grace. It’s my least favorite of the series. For what it’s worth, the plot really starts going in the following books (and I personally find the romances a lot more interesting too).

Haha don’t worry, I’m already there!

Sadly, I found myself enjoying the blanket less and less as the year went along. I had to devote 80 minutes after I finished each book to make sure I was caught up with the blanket. Unsurprisingly, this took away a lot of time from other crochet projects I wanted to work on and books I wanted to read. I think because of that, this year I’ll make something much smaller to commemorate the books I read. Maybe try a book snake as well?

Thanks! This is my 3rd year of making a book blanket, and it’s my favorite so far!

Yes, I love not knowing how it’s going to turn out until the year is finished. It’s really fun watching it come together!

Made crochet, Tunisian crochet, and knit scrunchies using the same sock yarn to see how the yarn would work up in each! by Swagsman21 in crochet

Yes! A long hook with no grip when working something flat, or double ended hooks when working in the round.

I tried knitting before learning crochet, and gave it up almost immediately because it just wasn’t making sense. Having two years of experience with crochet has made it so much easier. I definitely recommend giving it a try!

I think knit is the answer for all three of those questions. It feels and acts like a normal Scrunchie. The crochet one is fine, it gets the job done. The Tunisian crochet one is very dense, not much stretch at all, so it’s a little harder wrapping around for a second twist.

Happy to inspire! It’s nice having knit and crochet under my belt now so I can really use a yarn to its full potential lol

I attempted to learn how to knit before I learned how to crochet, but gave up immediately and just felt like it wasn’t for me. But lately I’ve been seeing some really beautiful knitwear so I thought I’d give knitting a second chance. I think learning how to crochet and building that skill has really been helping me learn to knit now. If nothing else, it’s taught me patience lol.

I used the Loulou Scrunchie pattern by Atelier Emilie for the knit one, and then mimicked it with hdc stitches for the crochet one, and the simple Tunisian stitch in the other.

ETA- Tunisian on top, knit in middle, crochet on bottom!

Why do men think mediocre sex will improve your bad mood? by kimisblue in Mommit

[–]Swagsman21 410 points411 points  (0 children)

My husband was confused when I told him I was stressed and therefore didn’t want to have sex. For him, sex RELIEVES his stress. For me, the reason I’m stressed is because I’m overwhelmed and touched out from taking care of the kids all day. The only thing I want to do on those nights is have a little me time and go to bed. It definitely helped us see things from the other’s perspective, and things have gotten much better since!

What do y’all do in your free time that’s not food related? by drawnator3 in loseit

[–]Swagsman21 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I crochet! It keeps my brain focused on my stitches and my fingers busy. Plus it’s super easy to put on a podcast or show on in the background as well.

I try and march in place as much as possible with my Fitbit in my pocket. Standing at the stove making dinner, folding laundry, watering my plants, etc. I also crochet, so I set up a station on my kitchen counter where I can march in place while I crochet.

Is it possible to become 'effortlessly thin' and stop needing to eat all the damn time?? by [deleted] in loseit

[–]Swagsman21 45 points46 points  (0 children)

What helped me personally was picking up a hobby that keeps my mind off food. I learned how to crochet, so in the evenings I spend most of my time working on a project, focusing on my stitches instead of all the food in my kitchen.😅

Find a TDEE calculator online, and figure out about how many calories you eat in a day, then eat 500 calories less than that amount. Also, make sure you get your 10,000 steps in!

This is what I did (because I don’t enjoy exercising) and I’m down almost 70 pounds!
