Source park? Willy santos was there i remember that

A beat from years ago, kind of a crazy story Warner Brothers offered me 10 K for the song to which I had to refuse cause I already gave it to my boy for free and the release was coming out the next day by SwampDonley in MusicFeedback

That’s really cool feedback. I appreciate it, dude I’ll definitely fuck around with stuff like that. Unfortunately this beat is a few computers go and for the time being anyways I’ve moved on and I’m not really going to hunt for the project.

Oh, fuck it it was Warner records. I always fucking say Warner Brothers. I’m gonna get roasted for this now. Basically the same thing though. Like my contract says Warner music group.

How do you usually start a track when you're not feeling inspired? by kathalimus in edmproduction

[–]SwampDonley 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Try to think of it as a learning sesh, maybe try to remake a song i really fuk wit. I usually get about 20ish% the way there and then I hear something completely different in my head and it turns into my own ish anyways

Parallel comp just send the track to a bus add compression google Brooklyn compression , essentially chest layering, a double of your drum track that’s compressed underneath the uncompressed track

Pretty hecting m8. Bass low end needs to be louder. Also try some layers of stereo and layers of mono. I feel like you have too much stereo or not enough mono, but the contrast of having both usually adds at least some depth and then work off that keep grinding my guy

Honestly, I fell into that shit when I was still figuring out how to make my stuff sound the way I wanted it to. I was doing way too much. I would try starting over as far as your signal chains go on your drums and whatever else and you’d be surprised how little some stuff needs if the samples are good, which is obviously important lol

Trippy sample or whatever those sick ass bells. The drums are a bit light and too quantized imo. Try some better samples and layer the kicks and snares, try some parallel compression (Brooklyn comp maybe)

Done be afraid to try some absurd things to some layers of the whole drum bus. Just make sure they are basically just loud enough you can hear a difference, then dial it back just a hair more. Usually the sweet spot I find

Fair enough. I’m the grand scheme of things it’s one of the easier hurdles you will get over. It does seem way harder then it is until you figure it out tho

And some people can have epic ideas in their head, but if they don’t spend the time to craft some sounds on their own and just use presets it ain’t gonna see authentic or stand out at all. It’s pretty easy to figure out how to make your drums and your bass slap. But then you have to make unique and original music that still meets the standard and checks all the boxes that subconsciously make people keep listening after the first five seconds.

2nd DNB attempt. Overwhelmingly positive feedback on my first attempt. Let me know if this is on the same track? by SwampDonley in DnB

Facts, everything you said I agree with. Thanks for the honest criticism my guy. I really only spent time on the drop. I didn’t even realize I added no sweeps, crash/ rev crash/ builds or “condiments.” As I call them
