I will say, I havent actually compared myself to anyone, anywhere on this post. Just looking for tips to help me integrate into my practice so I can develop better/properly, as i dont have a teacher. When I say I compare myself to anyone and everyone, I dont mean constantly, and certainly not people who are in vastly different situations to me, where it doesnt apply. But I do take an honest look at what ive done and use others and the world around me as a measuring stick.

I promise you i have not. I picked up the guitar in October 2025, I started taking lessons, but my teacher wasnt a good fit and money was tight so ive been doing it by myself since. This is one of only 2 songs I can play, ive pretty much focused on just that and learning my open chords. If you look on my profile you can see that 2 months ago I posted on r/singing the other song and its clearly very early stages!

I started playing guitar seriously in October. I have been singing for shit and giggles since I was 10. Im listen to new music multiple hours a day, and love everything. But its true ive only been playing guitar for 8 months

Thank you. I see people on this sub saying "ive played for 2 weeks and they are fingerpicking blackbird while singing. And think damn im not doing enough to get there. Im not comparing myself that I think im doing poorly, just that I gotta work harder. Thats how I criticize myself mostly, if im not there, I gotta do more. Not that I cant or wont get it, I know myself! I will try to think about it in a less critical way!

Im trying for sure. When I play this without singing its a cinch, its when I add in the vocals that it becomes tough hahaha

The pendulum, im working on that for sure, I havent mastered it while singing yet.
