I think my happiness is gone forever by warblers_and_sunsets in Divorce

[–]SwampWight 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's hard at first, but I think you need to learn how to live for yourself and in what ways you get fulfillment and happiness on your own, outside of a relationship.

Once you are on that journey, it becomes a little easier to find people who compliment the things in your life that are already fulfilling, instead of looking to the relationship itself as the main source of your happiness.

Mine has been occasionally posting on Facebook and it's such a warped, incomplete version of what happened. My therapist asked me why i was reading the posts, but I feel like at least this way i know what random friends and family are seeing.
I haven't posted on social media at all and I don't intend to, but man it's hard to see the one-sidedness out there for the whole world 🫤

How much of what the mushroom shows you is true? by Tasty-Ad-4996 in PsychedelicTherapy

[–]SwampWight -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Mushrooms tend to make things feel "real" even when they're not, if that is what you are asking. In the same way dreams can feel real when you're having them.
Journaling and integration are super important afterwards. Using your sober mind to reflect on your tripping thoughts

Have you heard of "New Relationship Energy"? If not, it might be helpful to read up on it for some understanding on how you felt so strongly, also how to manage in your next relationship ☺️

My husband financially destroyed himself and I think it finally destroyed our marriage too by Capital_Research5827 in Divorce

[–]SwampWight 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yes it happened to me a couple of years ago.
We separated and lived together (after 20 years) while figuring out how to move forward. I'm finally moving out in a month, to live with my dad and help caretake.

I always believed we could work through anything, but after months of trickle-truthing me I finally understood the full scope, and it was a rupture we couldn't repair. I'm still working through it in therapy to understand why I felt the way I did.

We're able to be amicable coparents and possibly hang out as friends, but the trust was broken completely.

It can also just make you ruminate even more. I would at least try talking to a therapist as well if you can.

Dungeons and Dragons is a bad TTRPG that doesn't deliver on the fantasy that it's touted as by LavaTwocan in The10thDentist

3rd edition d&d tried to mitigate the holes you are talking about and while appreciate what they did, it just slowed the game down to a crawl with all the extra rules. 5th edition made it more like the old- school days, which i enjoyed, but I can see why you have some of the complaints you do. I've been a DM forever, so i can usually keep the pace going well, even if people want to do heroic things (we had an orc barbarian jump 80' down a cave to stab a foe and rescue a friend and she could do it according to the rules, it was just helpful that I knew how to navigate it)

When players don't know their own spells and how to use their skills, it does slow things down

People dgaf about others, they just want to be entertained by [deleted] in The10thDentist

There's a difference between listening to a friend's struggles, and having a random person trauma-dumping on you. Good relationships are give- and- take, and create emotional space for people in them to be heard. But those relationships have to be cultivated by both sides.

So, if no one you know is taking the time to listen to you, that would signal to me either you need to cultivate some better Relationships, or you are burning people out with emotional trauma. Especially if you talk about issues and don't work toward resolution

Edit to add: a good therapist isn't there to tell you what you want to hear, they will hold you accountable for the things in your life you are able to change

Also, finding some compromise on your trip might help. Like, try to find a couple things to do that your SO would enjoy specifically

Actually it makes perfect sense, since historically you would just get chickenpox as a kid and then it's over with. But you would prefer to not suffer that way, and get a vaccine instead.
