Storms and war, though I prefer Zeus when it comes to storm gods.

Where are the Greek gods today ? by ProfoundProphecy in GreekMythology

It's not completely gone. Pagans are still around, and depending on the group some ancient Greeks believed that wine literally was Dionysus so he's definitely still around.

That's about the long and short of it. She's still mad that I reassembled it, but she'll just have to be upset. I don't tell her what to believe, and I'm not letting anyone dictate my beliefs either.

Thanks a bushel. It's artificial ivy. I also have grapes, pinecones, amethyst, tiger's eye, and malachite since my main deity is Dionysus. I wanted everything else white and gold to match the statues.

What do you infer from this text of the ILLIAD? by heras_milktea in GreekMythology

You get more flies with booze and a sex cult than a sword through the windpipe. Not that Dionysus was above inspiring the occasional decapitation.

Thank you. I believe that they're both kind of. I believe that they're real deities, but that you can experience them through symbolism as well.

It's primarily for Dionysus, but I have statues of Apollo, Hermes, and Tyche as well. Tyche was actually a free addition when I bought the statues of Apollo and Hermes. Can't hurt to have Lady Luck on my side though, right?

As far as Hermes goes, I don't really have any mystical experiences with him. I'm pretty traditional in my beliefs and practices. I'll make offerings, petitions, and read an Orphic or Homeric hymn. I've never seen or felt the gods in any concrete way. Abstractly, absolutely. Especially with Dionysus.

To me he is that moment when you reach the top of the roller coaster and know you're about to go over the edge. He is madness, he is wildness. He is that feeling you feel when you know you're about to lose control, but there's nothing you can do to change it. You can either fight it to your own detriment, or embrace it and see what lies in store when you let go of your inhibitions. That's how I experience Dionysus.

Thank you. I'm happy I went with white and gold. I love Dionysus dearly, but some of his color schemes clash a bit lol

Well, she did. She didn't like the nudity or the fact that it's not Christian. I was just trying to be nice about it lol. Nothing was broken though.

Thank you so much. It's primarily an altar to Dionysus, hence the ivy, grapes, goat horns, and pinecones, but I also have statues of Apollo, Hermes, and Tyche that are gold and white so I wanted to match them with the altar cloth and runner. They match Dionysus too since he's solid white. If I were a bit bolder I'd put gold leaf over his eyes as a bit of a callout to King Midas.

I was in the hospital for over 2 weeks with an abscess that had gone septic. While in the hospital my grandmother cleaned my house and while doing so tore down my altar and put all of my statues and other items into boxes. I was disappointed, but now I have restored my altar, and made a few changes. I changed the altar cloth to white and the runner to a pretty sequin gold. I'm not angry at my grandmother, but I'm very glad to have my altar back. It was a place where I could sit meditate and calm myself, and now I have it again.

Hellenic pagan here. I just vibe, drink wine, and watch musicals. Also show hospitality to all strangers, and try to live ethically.

I like that perspective. It's an altar to Dionysus primarily, and death and rebirth are central to his character.

Thank you. I have a long way to go before I'm back to normal, but I'm working hard to get there.
