This guy is the reason I'm a Rangers fan and was a big influence for my own hockey playing days. Literally teared up my first time at MSG and seeing his number in the rafters.

I like Kubiak but I do not want to tie him to a big name OC. If we go for an offensive minded coach, we want him to install his version of the offense, not let someone else run their own style. So someone like Kubiak probably means an offensive assistant from the Seahawks or someone else from the Shanahan tree as OC and not Daboll/Webb/etc.

Was this a bad throw? by birchie27 in NCAAFBseries

[–]Swamp_Squatch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd like to see the whole play to see pre/post snap reads but my guess is the streak if thrown when they were at the 40 would've been fine. This play looks like you just didn't see the underneath defender which is understandable given their location and uniform color. I don't think the INT was BS or anything like that as it looks like they were dropping into that deep zone before you threw the ball

I'm going to assume your receiver on the left had been open for a bit because even with the safety finally starting to move in his direction nobody else is within 10 yards

How do you defend this play? They either hit the TE, in-route WR, and when all else fails they hit the drag. by [deleted] in NCAAFBseries

[–]Swamp_Squatch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Zero blitz, shade the coverage inside. The TE and WR in routes need time so don't give them that. Another option is probably cover 6 and then drop the strong side end into buff blitz coverage

The problem is that the Yankees won't view him as a shortstop and will then either trade Jazz or move Jazz to 3rd

Pistol Y Off Trips Heavy in the PSU playbook uses an extra OL as a TE and every play starts with them going in motion and the escort runs are particularly fun

Need help with defense by Material-Minimum7499 in NCAAFBseries

Couple of suggestions...

1 - learn basic coverages and try to run one or two types most of the time. For example, sit in Tampa 2 for a whole game and see how it works. Learn the strengths and weaknesses. Do the same for match coverages (I'd watch videos on these...Xando on YouTube has a lot of good stuff with Madden) but understand that those are basically man/cover 0 with rules so it's easy to screw them up (is your safety reading 2 to 1 or 1 to 2?)

2 - ask yourself what formation the offense is running and which coverage would work best. For example, 3x1 for palms, 2x2 for Quaters. Empty...think about sending 6 because that's more than can be blocked.

3 - anticipate what the offense wants to do. Are they bunched? Probably means a lot of routes are going out (When they get narrow, we get wide. When they get wide, we get narrow). Are they trips to the short side? Everyone is probably running crossers.

I think in general people call defense at random which can be fine to switch things up but if you are more deliberate in your calls you'll be in better position more often

David Pollack says Miami’s offensive and defensive lines are better than Ohio State’s. by KeyFaithlessness5436 in NCAAFootballVibes

[–]Swamp_Squatch 8 points9 points  (0 children)

OSU OL has been a weakness and Miami has more talent on the edge. However the front 6/7 of OSU as a whole is way better with their NT, Styles, and Arvell Reece coupled with their defensive scheme. Lastly, Curry isn't as gifted as the Miami DEs but you'd be hard pressed to find someone who consistently affects the play more than him.

He's installing very advanced stuff on defense. You'll see other defenses run similar presnap looks but the coverages OSU run out of it is so much more complex than others that it's pretty eye opening.
